James Cameron consulted with Arnold Schwarzenegger on Terminator 5
"I was talking to him back in fall about a new Terminator film and quietly advising on that, I suppose you could say. I was trying to be as encouraging as possible. Frankly, at that time, I thought it needed to be more about him. I told him he should not do it until it's focused on his character or he shouldn't do it. I think there are some great stories that can be told about that character that haven't even been thought of yet."
Back in January, producer/financier Megan Ellison confirmed the sequel will be R-rated, "as God and James Cameron intended." There is still no screenwriter attached, and they haven't found a replacement for Justin Lin yet, so it isn't clear when this project will get off the ground.
Terminator 5 is in development and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger.

@Danny-Hitchcock As long as Arnold Schwarzenegger is involved in Terminator 5, then i would say make it happen. But, there is only one problem with that and that is, that Arnold Schwarzenegger is not getting younger he is getting older.

Lets be honest here. Terminator 1 was the best out of all of them, and it's in my top 3 favorite movies of all time....T2 was okay but the liquid T-1000 was stupid. T3 again was okay but a few scenes could have been better, and I don't care who played John Connor. T4 I think was better then T2 and T3 and Bale was a great John Connor, and there was nothing wrong with the acting at all. But they do need to stop throwing in the big movie lines from the past films like " I'll be back" or " Come with me if you want to live"...Now possible T5 would be great, and Cameron making the film would be awesome. And the movie should be about when the T-101 and Kyle Reese are sent back through time, and I think Paul Walker has the looks to play Reese....Then you have Arnold, where I hope they can make him look like he did back in 1984. Sorry Arnold but not this time. I'm a huge Arnold fan, his movies in the 80's are what I grew up watching. Plus I have every movie he ever made but Junior, sh*t I even have Hercules in new york....But as a terminator, I hope they make T5 and I hope Bale still plays Connor...Come on JAMES CAMERON make it happen buddy!!!

Mind your Tongue @robert that show was great even if you think it isn't. A true fan watches everything Terminator even if it does suck and it applies to everything else under the sun.
Bale wasn't that great in Salvation, effects were great but the acting was off and miscast.

Last I heard of this project the rights were in a tug of war between distributors. I still think they shouldn't do it unless it introduces another new element (or origin) to the franchise.

I don't know, after Terminator Salvation, I just kind of gave up on the whole thing. For me, it began with T1 and ended at T2. That's how the creator envisioned it, so that's how I take it.

hope it's true but gosh, I hate when they recasted john conner, that's fine if they got Christian Bale to be in T3, it still wouldn't have been a great movie but it wouldv'e been acceptable because I could buy Christian Bale being an older version of the kid from T2, not that f*#king wuss they had play john conner in T3, I understand the kid from T2 had some unfortunate problems but why'd they get that blonde dumbass to play John Conner, how do you get black hair as a kid and blonde hair when you're an adult, did the guy from T3 bleach his hair in the story? I think not, gosh, 3 DIFFERENT ACTORS played John Connor and Terminator Salvation sucked. screw that stupid tv show sarah connor chronic bowl infestation of a pathetic excuse for tvpocalypse show anyway hope T5 is awesome, Cameron should divorce himself from Avatar, no one gives a crap anymore about those smurfs, he needs to make more Terminator movies and Alien movies!!!!

I actually didn't mind the CGI version of Arny in the last terminator flick. Thought it was a dope scene, albeit short. Id love to see Arnold do the role again, and maybe just use cgi to make him look younger and more physically fit.
