On Avatar, I have not consciously composed my shots differently for 3-D. I am just using the same style I always do. In fact, after the first couple of weeks, I stopped looking at the shots in 3-D while I was working, even though the digital cameras allow real-time stereo viewing. I had someone else checking them for good stereo as we were shooting, in a small theater we set up near the stage for that purpose. I would get real-time feedback from my "golden-eyes" team in the theater, if a shot needed to be adjusted to increase or decrease the stereospace.
I plan to shoot a small dramatic film in 3-D, just to prove this point, after Avatar. In Avatar, there are a number of scenes that are straight dramatic scenes, no action, no effects. They play very well, and in fact seem to be enhanced by the stereo viewing experience. So I think this can work for the full length of a dramatic feature. However, filmmakers and studios will have to weigh the added cost of shooting in 3-D against the increased marketing value for that type of film.

Flrep07, honest question; Why do you hate James Cameron? I find that intriguing.
Rongo, if you've seen Water Rats (TVNZ) Sam Worthington is an australian actor who did a bit part next to Jay Langaea. I mainly remember him in a supporting role in Hart's War with Bruce Willis. (He's also lined up for a role in Terminator 4)

The only movie that i thought was really good that James Cameron directed was "Titanic". That movie had f*cking awesome graphics and looked real as hell. As for "Aliens", it was just weird as hell and nasty, but "Terminator" was also really good. Im not sure how this movie will turn out. I hope it blows. I hate Cameron even though he has made good movies. I just hate his ass.

Cameron is unbelievable. Without question one of the best, most innovative directors in cinematic history. The guy is a genius. This movie is going to kick ass.
Also, Cnote....are you serious? This movie is not based on that anime nonsense. This is an entirely original concept that Cameron has spent the better part of a decade developing.

The full article is well worth the read. Especially for those who are into making their own movies, & future proofing yourself for what seems to be a logical argument on a prediction for filiming in the future. Mr Cameron is the smart man's director. Pure genius
