James Cameron Speaks Out on Terminator Salvation

In an interesting Q&A posted by The National Post, James Cameron spoke out on the upcoming fourth installment of The Terminator franchise, Terminator Salvation. In recent interviews, McG has been quoted as saying that he went to Cameron, original creator of The Terminator mythos, to get his blessing on the film. But apparently that isn’t true.

Cameron recanted McG’s claim that his film had been blessed by the seminal sci-fi filmmaker, stating:
“It could be a big steaming pile or it could be brilliant. Sam Worthington is in the Avatar and the new Terminator and he likes the script, but I never saw it. There was no blessing involved.”

Terminator Salvation was released May 21st, 2009 and stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood, Helena Bonham Carter, Anton Yelchin, Jadagrace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Common. The film is directed by McG.

    I can understand where cameron is coming from. I mean the Terminator is his baby...the story, characters, everything came from him...he even made his wife a big aspect of the story...you gotta respect his genius..He felt that his story was done at part 2....just his portion of the story tho.....The Terminator story has so much potential but only if its done right.....T3 was garbage...the CGI was obvious......The Female Terminator was to gimmicky.......and John Connor should of been like Rambo in that movie.....he was like a punk...like Sarah didn't teach him anything........Cameron isn't completely bashing the film ...he just ain't blessin...i can respect that....i wouldn't want anyone to think they could just mess up my "baby"

    What's with the whole Cameron bashing? He created the Terminator and gave us two of the best sci-fi films ever with this, let alone many of his other films are also brilliant (mmm, I don't like Titanic, but that's just me)
    What did McG do? The campy Charlie's Angels movies? I'm only interested in this T4 for Christian Bale, in hopes of he saw something good about this and didn't signed just for the money.
    P.S. I loved Nick Stahl's performance, even if you didn't, suited well the movie)

    Cameron lives in his own, post-Titanic world making pet projects no one sees...His Avatar could be a big steaming pile too. He's a genius, but an *sshole too from what insider consensus states.

    Terminator4, from all available news and pictures, looks to return the venerable franchise back to its former glory. Bring on the SkyNet war and surprise Arnold cameo.

    It's a shame McG apparently never got Cameron's blessing, but this really doesn't change how I feel and think about T4: I still wanna see it, PG-13 or R, Bale is one hell of an actor and can definitely do Connor justice the way Furlong did, and it's the start of a whole new reinvented chapter in the series. I think we'd all obviously be upset if we created something like this and weren't involved, but I guess that's how Hollywood functions. It's all about the mighty dollar. Hopefully it's brilliant and not a steaming pile.

    First of all, Depp is Tanto, pay attention. Secondly, "i feel the need to change my avatar to suit the hype" sounds an awful lot like "I'm so desperate for everyone to know I thought this was cool before they did that I jump on their stupid ass bandwagon, even though I know it's beneath me."
    And I know you're not a poser man, but sometimes you sure as hell act like it.
    BTW, having the highest comment count isn't really an achievement. I mean, hoorah and all, but I'm concerned more with quantity rather than quality, which you usually deliver. But sometimes...*sigh*

    of course James Cameron would be a lil sour over a new terminator, its his creation and he has nothing to do with this film but unfortunatly with laws and stuff he probably didn't owen the rights the studio did. Anyone would be pissed if something you created turned to utter sh*t.
    But besides that I dont give a rats ass what he thinks or if his blessing was given, it looks cool. Im excited for it and I cant wait to see more. So far with Bale and Worthington on board it looks badass. And I hope it gets an R rating
