Anthony Hopkins eyed as James Bond 23 villain
It isn't clear if both actors are up for the same part, or if they will act alongside each other as dual villains should both sign on. Anthony Hopkins is close to signing a deal to appear as 007's nemesis in James Bond 23, but it appears that he is having an issue with how many sequels he needs to come back for.
"The only stumbling block seems to be the number of films he is signing up for. There is a chance the character they want him to play could become a regular feature, like Blofeld back in the day."
We are sure to hear official casting announcements very soon, as James Bond 23 is heading into production later this year.
Skyfall was released November 9th, 2012 and stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Bérénice Marlohe, Albert Finney, Ben Whishaw. The film is directed by Sam Mendes.

I think bond has come a long way with Daniel Craig as bond he needs a villain that is going to test bond. Be it a female or male villain Hopkins would serve best an intellectual villain for bond behind the scenes an architect for all the mayhem. But he truly needs some one to go toe to toe with in the end

I have to agree with @addictionnonfatel. Hopkins was also laughable in Legends of the Fall (literally in the cinema I saw it in). Yes he was great at evil camp as Lecter which is obviously a defining role, but I don't actually think he's very good in much else.
I think casting unknowns as villains in Bond films is the way forward - especially as the films are based more in reality now.

With all due respect, I hope not! His time has come and gone. Quit while you're some what ahead, I mean I've seen "The Wolfman" and "The Rite", both horrible performances.

@ekj1 Good Call. But man all these great names mention below for one picture? Then the next one will suck. lol. But it was mentioned this will up the storyline trilogy. So maybe a setup in this one as an introduction then spread them out over the next coming sequels alternating them. They all too powerful for them to be knockoffs like the Brosnan series. I thought they were lame anyways. Just saying.

I've got to tell Jack about this, since he's met him on occasion. This is big news... no it's bigger than big

@champion-bescos I dunno, man. Weisz in charge of both Bardem AND Hopkins? Seems like a tall order, my friend lol. She's a pretty confident actress, someone I could see in command of a villainous operation such as Quantum, but Bardem and Hopkins have some pretty epic screen presence of their own. Not saying it couldn't work, I would love it if they went that route, I just don't see it happening.

The King of Thorns
@dan1, I like that idea, but a nice twist would be necessary. Instead, make Weisz the cunning, beautiful, and hurt leader of Quantum, and Anthony as her voice of reason, and Bardem as her lieutenant. I'm in no ways trying to undermine Hopkins awesomeness, but Weisz needs to be a lead villain. That would be f*cking phenomenal, untraditional, plus I'd be soooo f*cking happy, man. ;)

Nah if any one was to be like Jaws, I'd call for Cillian Murphy, he just needs to buff up a bit....or Tom Hardy

@furankisan I would liken Bardem to a Red Grant type. That seems to fit better than Jaws, who never worked for S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

Hopkins aka Blofeld and Badem as a Jaws type, one brains and the other muscle but with huge speaking part of course....damn to good to be true...

Ahhhh so its here...
#Hopkins is close to signing a deal, and its unsure if #Bardem will be signed at this current moment, because his the headline for Dark Tower.
#Weisz may be the villain in the 24th installment

It would be great to have both Bardem and Hopkins in this, but if they were both offered the same role I would go with Bardem.

I said this was shaping up to be the best Bond ever when it was just Mendes and Craig. This is going to be awesome.
