Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan Return for 'Karate Kid 2'

'The Crazies' director Breck Eisner is behind this sequel to the 2010 reboot, which grossed over $340 million worldwide.
Breck Eisner (The Crazies) has signed on to direct Sony's upcoming sequel The Karate Kid 2, which has Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan attached to reprise their roles from the 2010 reboot The Karate Kid.

We reported in August 2010 that writers Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris (Kung Fu Panda, Robin Hood) came aboard to write the script, with Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand) signing on for a rewrite in February 2012. No story details have been released at this time.

Harald Zwart directed The Karate Kid reboot, which followed a young man (Jaden Smith) who moves with his mother (Taraji P. Henson) from Detroit to China, where he is taught kung fu by an eccentric martial arts master (Jackie Chan). The film earned $343 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

Breck Eisner is also attached to a number of projects in development, including Flash Gordon, The Last Witch Hunter, Stretch Armstrong and Blood of the Innocent.

The Karate Kid 2 is in development and stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan.

@ejk1 I hear they're already planning #3 where jaden opens up a bonsai tree shop with Jackie, and #4 where Will Smith will have his daughter cast in the lead, also to be trained by Jackie Chan, and she will whip her "hair back and forth"

Okay. They should title this sequel The Kung Fu Kid, like the first one should have been titled. I liked the first one, so I hope this is good and I hope they bring Horner back for the score.
