Fellow Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan said he would love to see Haley step into the iconic horror character first portrayed by Robert Englund.
"I personally would love to see him as Freddy Krueger. I can't think of anyone else that could pull it off."

I never knew this but just found this out Haley actually audition for the original Nightmare On Elm St, with Johnny Depp.
During the audition that Depp and Haley did, Wes Craven asked Jackie to read out some lines, (the character's lines aint specific) but its a pretty interesting fact.
Ok its not that i dont like the idea i just don't believe that this film needs a remake, it needs a prequel.
Remakes and prequels are 2 different things.
And i think your'd be a little peed off Vamp if they were remaking your favourite film.

I agree with Haley being perfect for the role, no one can actually doubt that he has many similiar features to England.
But Kruger doesn't need a remake, he needs a prequel, with Haley as Fredrick Charles Kruger.
I mean come on if me a " Massive Fanboy" of the Nightmare franchise can write a Nightmare prequel, i'm sure some idiot in Hollywood can.
And i was so looking forward to seeing "A Dream On Elm Street" on the big screen one day... :(
But its my opinion that Nightmare is iconic to the slasher genre, also you have to think back for its time...it was 1984.
This was a killer you couldn't escape, because everyone had to sleep, he had a much more in-depth and complexed background than Michael or Jason, he also spoke, unlike his 2 slasher rivals.
Plus the deaths were low-budget and unique, no one knew how to do invisible claws / slashes in people and drag them up walls, or have people sucked in beds and have 600 gallons of blood shoot out from the bed.
You just can't top what Nightmare (1984) did for the slasher genre, that is what made it a hit and led to an unprecedent number of a few crappy sequels

It's a good casting choice...I've yet to see Watchmen, but, imagine he plays Rorschach well since he's an Oscar nominated actor. As for the typical remake brouhaha, with the right actor, like Haley and modern day special effects, a revamped Nightmare on Elm Street should work well.

In 10 to 20 years they will be remaking the remakes since no one has any original ideas anymore. Oh well I will wait for the DVD or Cable for this just like Friday the 13th.

Ottley, that's fanboy talk. Lmfao. Kidding, but I'm afraid I don't see "A Nightmare On Elm Street" to be as iconic as you say. All of you people blow the entire remake thing outta proportion! Just watch the original and pretend that they didn't remake it. Honestly.
Anyway, I'm excited for "A Nightmare On Elm Street" remake, and the guy at least LOOKS the role. Besides that, his voice as Rorschach, from what I've seen in the trailers and clips, matches close to a Freddy Kruger voice.

I'm putting no one because i don't want anyone remaking it.
Nightmare on elm street is a definitive classic to the slasher horror genre, it also made ever one else from then on that wrote or directed a slasher film to up their game, since the deaths were so unique and creative...
No one can top what Nightmare on elm street did for the slasher genre.

He does look like ENGLUND slightly, but i can't remember anything with this guy i. I remember the rumours last year that he was penned to play Kruger and was wondering who the f*ck he was.
But this remake shouldn't happen, Platinum Dunes need to stop remaking and start creating
