Jack Black Returns to Paramount's School of Rock 2

Paramount Pictures has set Jack Black to reprise his role as rock star wannabe/substitute teacher Dewey Finn for a School of Rock sequel. Richard Linklater will direct again, and Scott Rudin is returning as producer.

According to Variety, original School of Rock writer Mike White is returning to write the new screenplay, titled School of Rock 2, which picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock 'n' roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.

No production date has been set.

The School of Rock 2: America Rocks is in development .

    although i 'vote no for the sequel', it is not because i didn't think the first was 'laugh out loud funny' like "jremyd" but rather, because i enjoyed the first so much and don't want my memory of it smeared by a sh*te sequel

    Now that we discussed everything but about this movie... Let's turn back to it.. While the first one was funny, but like radimus said, it wasn't exactly laugh out loud. So I Vote No for The seaquel. Like it matters anyway. Hollywood still does what it wants to and very rarely listens to the FanBoy... Hey its their money... But I say NO! Anyone else?

    jremyd i totally agree with u, i love Seth Rogen and his whole crew they just funny all of them, and Carells pretty funny but my opinion this still something missin with him, and about funny, Ben stiller is pretty funny i like most of his movies

    Jim Carrey & Eddie Murphy use to be funny! Seth Rogan is funny. Steve Carell is funny (I never have watched his TV show, only films)..but I think Steve Carell just gets handed lousy scripts.

    I as well will take up arms with comic book guy and Jremy D against the forces who represent eddie murphy. Yes its true Eddie Murphy USED to be good, he USED to be funny, he USED TO HAVE F*CKING TALENT. But his brother Charlie Murphy needs to kick the sh*t outta him because he's the only one out of the broheme that is worth watching now. And as for Jack Black, he's a funny guy, but seriously Jremy d is right, the only f*cking reason people are going to watch this is because Black is in it. He's had his fair share of good/funny movies but he's also had his fair share of pieces of sh*t. . . Does "The Holiday" ring a bell to any of you?

    Just to clarify... Jack Black is not as played out as Eddie Murphy. However I could see it going that way. Hollywood seems to be over using him and he does contribute to that over usage by accepting a lot of unneeded roles. Am I supposed to be all warm and happy because Jack Black is in the movie? Why? I do like him in some movies and I can't wait till Tropic Thunder comes out, but I don't think there is any need to making a School of Rock 2.

    I would be inlcined to agree with comic book guy and jremyd about black, except he has done some not so box office friendly movies also. Like tenacious d and the pick of destiny (a great movie imo). Black is funny, and does a pretty good job picking movies.

    Eddie Murphy is not awesome... He WAS awesome... Just look at "Meet Dave". Opened at #7 this weekend with only 5.3 mil. So sad when your movie's opening weekend gets beat out by two other movies that have been out for 3 weeks and two others that have been open for 2 weeks. Anyways... Comic book guy is right!
