J. Michael Straczynski Dishes on World War Z
Most notably is the addition of Quantum of Solace director, Marc Forster.
"We talk about it as a thriller, the closest comparison being The Bourne Identity," stated Straczynski. "Most zombie movies to this point have been small, focusing on a few people in a house. And this has got real scare. You're in India with hundreds of boats trying to get out of there with a tidal wave of zombies. The scale of what we're doing here is phenomenal."
He went on to say, "Now that Marc is here, I'm working with his notes to make one final pass on the script ... our hope is to get it moving into production by the first of the year."
World War Z follows an agent from the UN who reports on a zombie invasion.
World War Z comes to theaters December 21st, 2012 and stars Brad Pitt, Bryan Cranston, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Elyes Gabel, Julia Levy-Boeken, David Andrews. The film is directed by Marc Forster.

You see i've heard the same that Kite Runner (the film) was brilliant and that it was really faithful and adapted to the book. But Kite Runner ain't an action movie, its an emotional drama.
So far what i've seen of Forster is that he can do spectacular action with a mindless thin plot.
And come one everyone here will probably agree that they don't want World War Z to be a mindless zombie flick losing its plot line.
I want to see the story elements of adapting that he took from The Kite Runner and the amazing action he created for Solace.
And infuse both of those elements to create this movie because this is one of my fav novels and the only word to describe the book is 'EPIC.'
So at the moment Forster being on this movie is like a pivot, it can go one way or the other, hopefully he doesn't topple the scale.

Err
"epic" seems like the right word for it, i agree.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Chronic, lol. Bourne would do that and more. Lol.
This movie sounds massively awesome. I can totally picture this right now, and to be honest, this is the first Zombie film I've looked to since...ever.

ALSO, Forster has done story before. I think there was too much action in Solace BECAUSE he'd never done it before...he didn't know how to pace it. I've read that, too. He also directed "The Kite Runner" among others. TKR is based on one of my fav books, but I haven't seen it, but the story was great. Very emotional. He wasn't in his element with Solace. Hopefully he'll take some action from Solace and story from his other films and combine it to make one hell of a zombie flick

Plz Bourne would shove the M16 up a zombie's backside and still kick it's ass.
The-Club8 you did realise that QOS was a follow-up to Casino Royale?
You see the action in QOS was awesome none to say the least, but the plot was particularly thin because it was meant to be a follow-up to Royale.
But the problem i had with QOS was that apart from the film being an extravagance of action with merely no plot, the villain didn't seem evil neither did his ambitious goal, plus it had a crappy theme song being the first James Bond Duet Theme.
But here was the biggest problem if you had never seen Casino Royale you would not know what the hell QOS was about.

the-club8, while I do think Solace ruined what Royale set in motion, that doesn't mean the guy has to be kicked out of Hollywood. Solace had its great points and I would have liked it better had it not been a direct sequel. Like I said, zombies is a hell of a lot different than f*cking James Bond, so take a chill pill. In my opinion, I think this guy can do it, even if I didn't care for Solace. The image of "hundreds of boats trying to get out of there with a tidal wave of zombies" looks pretty epic in my head, and I think(and hope) he makes it just as epic on screen. I'm not doubting him just for Solace

are you saying bourne COULDNT kick a zombies ass? lolz

Mutant
Kick this guy out of Hollywood and the industry. There was way to much action in the new Bond, no story nor plot. I grew up watching the Bond films and he ruined it for us. GET OUT JERK.
Now as for this film, get another director then maybe I'll watch this epic.

I likethe simple fact that JMS wrote the script and the India scene sounds brill.
But comparising WWZ to TBI is overleaping i don't think Bourne ever kicked a Zombie's ass before lol.
This also has to be on an epic scale and a big budget for it to be successful, but i'm just hoping they keep the same fear the book had, because Forster's action films tend to be fueled with action and far little plot need we reference Quantum Of Solace.
This needs both the plot and the scares and realism.
I was actually hoping Neil Marshall would get this :(

Sounds epic. I didn't particularly care for Forster's Solace, but it was a different source material than zombies lol Also, JMS wrote the script, which is another plus
