Ivan Reitman Confirmed for Ghostbusters 3... But May Not Direct

It seems that the director of two successful 80s films will be involved with a third film, but perhaps not at the helm. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that they have "straight up confirmed, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt that Ivan Reitman, director of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2, is in fact attached to get behind the camera for Ghostbusters 3."

However, the site is reporting that Reitman is still unsure whether or not he will return to direct the film himself, or if he'll only be involved in a producer capacity. The site also confirmed that the story would kick off in present day where the original Ghostbusters decide to re-open their paranormal removal service.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykrod, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver have all confirmed their involvement for Ghostbusters 3, which is being written by The Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments on Ghostbusters 3 as soon as more information is revealed.

Ghostbusters 3 comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Sigourney Weaver, Anna Faris, Bill Murray, Eliza Dushku, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

Get your facts straight, Bagger. His wife died in February of 1991. So if he did retire after his wife died, then how could he have done Honey I blew up the Kid, Big Bully, and The Flintstones motion picture.

Lol, Vanboy, 'play the hand your dealt'? That's kinda cold hearted to say. I doubt people loved him. They just loved to see him play those geeky characters. He just wanted to branch out and get into other roles, which should be the mindset of every actor, and not just playing the hand your dealt. That's just putting yourself in a box.

Potts and Moranis have to come back. They were a couple in part 2. And Moranis got tired of playing geeky characters? Play the card you're dealt buddy. People loved him for that.
"Good doggie, doggie. Oh, maybe I have a Milkbone or something". "I'm the Key Masterrrr, are you the Gate Keeperrrrr?"
    Awesome!

It's gotta have Annie Potts come back also. It's not Ghostbusters without their smart-ass secretary Janine Melnitz. And since Ivan Reitman is on board, since he was the voice of Slimer, guess we already know the friendly green ghost is back too. Can't believe Sigourney said yes though. I thought she wasn't interested.

Moranis has retired from acting. He said he didn't like constantly playing the same old geeky characters he play in all of his films.

Man, this can't be true, lol. At Comic Con, Weaver stated that she wasn't going to be involved. And I remember Harold Ramis or Reitman saying that Murray is to difficult to work with and they wouldn't want to work with him again.

I think where it has all the principal people attached to it from the first two, it ought to do well...and I am looking forward to it.

They shouldn't even be making a movie. There really isn't a real demand for it. Just let the Ghostbusters video game be the third part. It's original, it's a great game, and I'm sure it'll be a lot better than this third installment, because like all third installments they suck.
