Is There a Ghost Rider 2 in the Works?

It's no secret that Ghost Rider is one of Nicolas Cage's personal favorites. He worked hard to get it on the screen and was quite pleased with the results. It made a lot of money when it came out last spring, grossing $115 million. It seems like a sequel would be a forgone conclusion.

So, is Ghost Rider 2 in the works? Well, today during a national press conference for his upcoming film National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Cage seemed rather disappointed that Sony hasn't greenlit a second installment. Would he do it? You bet. He stated, "All they have to do is call!" The enthusiastic actor would do it in a heartbeat.

Cage hasn't ever been one to do sequels. He says, "I don't like to repeat myself." National Treasure: Book of Secrets is the first follow-up he has ever participated in. And he'd like to see the series become a trilogy. For the third installment, Nic stated, "I believe this series should become more and more International Treasure. I was very happy to see that we went to London, England and Paris, France with National Treasure: Book of Secrets. But I'd like to see us go wider still. I could go to Africa, Egypt, Asia and keep going. My hope is that Ben'd get recruited. He gets a dossier from these other countries about their history and he has to download it and learn and try to go on these hunts on their behalf."

National Treasure: Book of Secrets opens December 21st, 2007.

Ghost Rider was released February 16th, 2007 and stars Matt Long, Raquel Alessi, Brett Cullen, Peter Fonda, Nicolas Cage, Donal Logue, Tony Ghosthawk, Hugh Sexton. The film is directed by Mark Steven Johnson.

That's what I think! But his name is Danny Ketch. He is by far the best Ghost Rider, and that's when Blaze becomes badass, watching over Ketch. No more Eva Mendes please or pretty boy Johnny eating jelly beans... ugh

Knobie09 is right. Sam Ketc should be the main focus on Ghost Rider 2.

Ghost Rider is a dark and complex character, the studio should have aimed for a R rated release like the Blade Trilogy. Other than that they shouldn't have made an attempt. Cage, while seeming like a good pick took an easy character to play and "pointed" (pun intended) him in the wrong direction. Cage should not be brought back for a sequel, this is another studio failure that needs to be bought back by Marvel and have a complete revamp done on it.

I still liked Spider-Man 2 even though it was dramatic it was dramatic in a good way whereas Spider-Man 3 was dramatic in a weepy "trying too hard to be a chick flick" kind of way. Flrep07 i didn't know u were talking about that Dolph Lundgren Punisher lol in that case i totally agree it sucked balls. I really only enjoyed Ryan Reynolds and Parker Posey in Blade: Trinity i just didn't like how everyone overshadowed Blade and how Wesley's performance was boring compared to everyone else in the film

kyle... i was talking about the Punisher movie made before the one with Thomas Jane and John travolta. And Blade: Trinity was funny and interesting, Blade 2 was f*cking gross and the first won was w/e.

I loved X-Men and The Punisher i wouldn't classify them as sh*tty at all so much depth and emotion in Punisher i loved the sub plot with Rebecca Romjin and Ben Foster. I hated Blade:Trinity though so cheesy and just..bad kung fu and sh*t like that but it was funny can't believe some people want Triple H to play Thor good lord maybe Sabretooth but not Thor

Yeah Ghost Rider was weak. I mean the graphics were good and some times it was funny, but the whole story was short, sweet, simple and to the point. It needed more depth like how Iron Man and Spider-man were. I guess marvel has to make mistakes now and then.

    Good Marvel Movies:
    Spider-Man
    Spider-Man 3
    DareDevil
    Iron Man
    Blade Trinity

    REALLY SH*TTY MOVIES:
    Elektra
    Hulk
    X-men series
Punisher (old one and new one thats gonna come out)

  24. Marcusx

um no. ghost rider was hands down the worst movie. i say that because i like cage. we all knew the original hulk would suck. i had high hopes for GR and god sh*t in my eyes as i watched the it on screen. i wouldnt even say hulk and GR tied. GR was by far no holds barred, the worst marvel movie ever made. and ya kno what? f*ck yes they will make a sequel

  25. Phatlightning

nah, it wont happen, cage will stick to his guns about no sequels, National Treasure was a fluke and since that movie also didn't meet expectations, he won't stick his neck out there on another sequel, he will just continue to make sub par movies, and A LOT of them.
