Is The Hobbit Once Again Eyeing a 2012 Release Date?
New Line Cinema executive producer Alan Horn told Variety that the film may not hit theaters until a full year after its previously announced release date. The studio is currently waiting for Peter Jackson and his longtime collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens to finish working with Del Toro on the script for the second film. When it is turned in, New Line will only then work up a budget and start casting. Horn didn't want to predict a set release date, but said The Hobbit most likely wouldn't hit theaters until the fourth quarter of 2012.
The report also indicates that Friday the 13th Part 2 in 3D wont be released until sometime in 2011, despite being rumored for 2010. The same is true for the Guillermo Del Toro produced remake of The Orphanage.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters December 14th, 2012 and stars Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.

I will definitely hold off my judgements till I see the film, I'm just not a fan of Del Toro, that's all. He makes decent movies and all, they just don't click with me for some reason.

I have faith in him, it'll be good. Now who mentioned a reboot of LOTR, cause I don't see it mentioned.

Spynet, why not Del Toro? His eye for whimsicality and fantastical creature creation fits perfectly with the world of The Hobbit. Did you see Hellboy II or Pan's Labyrinth? I was very excited to hear he was taking over as director, and I can't wait to see how this turns out.

I guess this would be ok. I just want them to make this movie be the best it can be. I"m already not too happy that they chose Del Toro to direct, I'm willing to wait a bit if that means that more time and care will be given to this movie.
