Is Sylvester Stallone Gearing Up to Remake The Mechanic?

Dark Horizons is reporting that Sylvester Stallone is gearing up to direct a remake of a "different" Charles Bronson film. Early reports indicated that Sly was heading towards a remake of Death Wish, but now it seems he might be directed a redo of The Mechanic instead.

Word is that MGM is currently looking for a younger actor to star alongside Stallone. Apparently they want either Ryan Gosling, Ben Foster, Cillian Murphy, or even Elijah Wood for the project.

The film will revolve around an aging hitman that takes on a younger protege and shows him the ropes. There is no word on when production will start.

    I just read the comment here.
    my opinion...Elijah Wood should really obtain this role...He really needs this role.
    If he obtains this role, he can kill his stereo type image.He tried to change his image in a small indie movie.But it is not effective at all.
    He needs such a big role. The other actors get many chances. However, he gets nothing.
    Frodo really spoiled his career.
    I think that this chance should be given him.

    Will Stallone said that he would like to remake both films,and Death Wish was not remade let,altough there were to vigilante movies made last year,the actors listed for his protege I don't see doing this role justice,maybe paul walker,the rock,somebody in that age group someone that could play the hard core role not elijah wood,don't get me wrong I like the guy but not for this role.Stallone rocks and I look foward to his take on both movies.

    this sounds cool glad they did not decide to remake death wish, that has been done twice in the last year with the brave one and then the one starring kevin bacon that i cant remember the title to. I think that remaking some of charles bronson's movies could be good.
