Sam Worthington to portray Dan Dare?
This British sci-fi comic was picked up by Virgin Comics (and Richard Branson) a few years ago. The character of Dan Dare has been in comic strips since 1950. He was created by Frank Hampson. The character is described as "chief pilot of the Interplanet Space Fleet."
Branson originally wanted to bring the character back in comics and then move into films with him. When this didn't happen, Warner Bros. got involved and signed up Worthington.
There isn't a writer or a director on board yet but the studio is looking to fill those slots. It seems that with Worthington involved they want to fast track the production.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Well as Err said, he does slightly look the part.
I say for director, it should be Snyder. He's quite faithful at adaptions, has rather ingenuitive ideas, is a big fan of Star Wars (so this lets him do his own epic space tale), and of course his slow-mo would do wonders for this in live action. Plus he works solely for WB. So it's perfect. Seeing as how he's doing "Legend of the Guardians", he seemed to dial down a lot of his ultra violence and what not, so he an most likely make this a great PG-13 film. And not that it has anything to do with it, but he's working with Aussie's on "Guardians" and what not so this could be a shoe-in. Thats my two cents.
