Is Black Widow on the way?
Created for "Tales Of Suspense" comics in the '60s by Stan Lee, Don Rico and Don Heck, Romanova was a former Soviet-spy who joined S.H.I.E.L.D., worked with Nick Fury and eventually became a member of the super-hero team The Avengers. It only makes sense that the character would be introduced in this movie since Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, was briefly introduced at the end of the first film. Not to mention the fact that Marvel Studios is planning a film version of The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, and featuring characters introduced in the Iron Man series, The Incredible Hulk and it's upcoming films Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
So now with the film just a few weeks away it seems that talk has already begun about a possible spin-off featuring the catsuit-clad femme fatale in her own film. While participating in a press conference to promote the upcoming potential blockbuster, President of Production for Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, discussed the chances of Johansson's character getting her own solo film in the near future.
"Yes absolutely, it's definitely a possibility," answered Feige.
Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau also chimed in on the subject. "Hell yes," he exclaimed. "I would love to see that."
Beginning with 2008's Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, Marvel Studios really started to attempt something never before done on film, create one seamless world that several different film franchises would exist in ... essentially creating the "Marvel Film Universe." Favreau explained how Iron Man 2 fits in with the other Marvel Universe films.
"Iron Man 2 takes place before The Incredible Hulk, " he explained. "But if you pay attention towards the end of the film you'll see a little clue that tells you that it's happening before The Incredible Hulk," Kevin Feige revealed. "Kevin, the whole idea of an Easter Egg is that you don't talk about it," joked Favreau.
Iron Man 2 was released May 7th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Jon Favreau.

i agree spin-off films with female super-heros at the lead rarely work out as proven with catwoman and elektra. although i really liked both of those films, they were not hits.

OMG, I was going to say, "Electra anyone?", but Yentz beat me to it. LOL! The character will not survive on her own. Johansson better not do this. She is an actress with a notable pedigree and will be panned a and laughed out of Oscar's house. In a group of many Oscar winners and nominees, she will not. Put it this way...remember Catwoman? And yes, Electra as well.

I don't see how this wouldn't be a horrible movie unless they made it very gritty like punisher warzone, except you know with better actors.

@GreatOz: Rofl, yeah I hope the "3D Craze" doesn't continue THAT long.
I have to say, I like the possibility behind this, I mean it would be interesting to watch & to see if they could actually pull it off. Who knows, lmao, they could always throw a curve-ball and re-cast her part, instead of bringing Scarlett back.
The one thing they NEED to get right, if this is pursued, is get her with a Russian accent.
I gotta laugh a little at how they're already considering this, before Iron Man 2 is released.

@insertusernamehere Or Black Cat, LOLZ (she was originally the first actress rumored for that role).
Not sure about this, since she is spinning off into The Avengers as well. Although she is hot in black tight leather, and I would be there in a heartbeat. By the way, Elektra was good if you watched the Director's Cut, same with Daredevil: Director's Cut. The theatrical versions of both those films is what sucked.
@SuperCanayaZ YOU are a stupid character. Lord knows this site doesn't need any more douche users like you going around posting unintelligible comments like that all over the site. And BTW What the fvck does that name even mean?

Black Widow is also seen in the Spiderman comic's, along with Blade, several x-men characters, Dare devil, Hulk and so many others. I almost forgot Fantastic Four.
