John Travolta may star in The Toxic Avenger remake
Troma Films principals Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz directed the original version of The Toxic Avenger in 1984. The story centers on a janitor named Melvin, who is tormented by the muscle-bound jocks that go to his gym. One day, they dump Melvin into a vat of toxic waste, transforming him into an enormous but deformed creature, who vows to rid his New Jersey streets of criminals and thugs. Here is a brief logline for the remake, that indicates the campy aspects of the original will be no more.
"Action-comedy remake in the vein of The Mask... he's an environmental superhero...doesn't want it to be campy..."
Steve Pink is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Daniel C. Mitchell. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are executive producing. No production schedule was given, although this remake may have to wait for the director to become available. He is also attached to direct Bad Santa 2 and the About Last Night remake Sexual Pervisity in Chicago.
The Toxic Avenger comes to theaters in 2014.

Thats why in my review I made a big deal about all the one liners and all.. they were one of the more enjoyable parts of the films! And Chuck making the snake joke... classic

@mcleve02 I thought it was fun watching them make fun of themselves. Like Arnold said at one point in the movie, they each belong in a museum but it sure was enjoyable. It didn't have the same high octane flair as the first one. But that was fine. Just the additions of some of the icons and the spoofing within was enough to make up for it. I liked the Statham fight when he had to take on Adkins. I was okay with the Stallone/Van Damme showdown. The real treat was to see a lot of these icons together. I hate that Li was gone after the first act, it would have been nice to see where he fit in between them. Hopefully he returns for the full length of the third. Everyone showed their age in this film, but they were just as aware of it as you and I. Overall, it was completely enjoyable. I look forward to see how they round it out in a trilogy. I don't see them doing more than three.

Never saw the toxic Avenger before. But I think John is still a good actor. He was good in savages the oliver stone movie that just came out 2 or 3 months ago.
