Is George Lucas Bringing Indiana Jones Back for a Fifth Adventure?

Since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull made $770 million worldwide, it should be no surprise that a fifth film is in the works. The Los Angeles Times spoke with Harrison Ford who said that George Lucas is currently cooking up ideas for a fifth Indy film.

"It's crazy but great," Ford said. "George is in think mode right now." Ford added, "It's automatic, really, we did well with the last one and with that having done well and been a positive experience, it's not surprising that some people want to do it again."

Ford also chimed in on the success of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and how that was a bit of a surprise.

"It was never a lead-pipe cinch," Ford said. "It was a calculated business risk but I believe it paid off. I was somewhat surprised and gratified to see it did the business that it did. It was successful in almost every market. The first time we showed it to a disinterested outside audience was at Cannes. That's a crap shoot of the first order. Not only is that audience sophisticated and film-knowledgable, it's French! And it's their country and their festival and we somewhat expected to be seriously slapped around. But we were not, we were embraced...it was very gratifying."

We'll certainly keep you posted on any news revolving around Harrison Ford donning that famous fedora one more time.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released May 22nd, 2008 and stars Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Shia LaBeouf, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, Igor Jijikine. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

Sweet monkey! I liked the last film, it was no Raiders, but still a damn fun adventure. I dont get why the aliens upset everyone so much. Im not a christian and I didnt get upset at Raiders and the Last Crusade, which were based on things I dont believe in. I dont believe in aliens either I just enjoyed the film. It wasnt as great as pevious Indy flicks but still damn fun.

It's rare for me to dislike a movie, I mean it's gotta be really stupid or not up-to-pair visually for me to not like it. I love a lot of movies. That being said, this last Indy film was just bland for me. He wasn't even funny in the movie. I was expecting jokes and one-liners like all the other movies did. Nadda. The only thing they did which btw seemed like they "threw in there" was the snake part. Funniest part of the movie. Shia was the comic relief not Harrison, which is a disapointment. Harrison is funny, has his own sense of humor but he didn't deliver the goods this time around. I think it was because the dialogue was poorly written idk. A lot of the action scenes were overthetop and not on purpose. You can't stand on a jeep while it's driving through the f*cking jungle sword fighting at 60 or more miles per hour! Or the nuke fridge thing I mean come the f*ck on. Retarded to say the least. The movie was "okay". There was more need for the film. No new stuff was really gathered from this film. I was highly disapointed when I went to the midnight showing. I've liked every other big film that came out TDK, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Hanc*ck etc. I just didn't get into this movie at all. As a matter of fact, I was kind of bored. I can watch the Predator movies and movies like Gangs of New York and be fully entertained but bored watching this wtf? lol.

I had no problems at al with the last one, yeah whats the problem with aliens?
Whats so different to the ark? An ark which kills millions of people with godly powers?
Its still awesome entertainment, but I would on one hand like to see another Indy film, but on the other this one was a good ending of Indiana Jones, how old is Harrison anyway? 60?
But the ending should have been that they were riding into the sun, that would have been so perfect cause it is such a classical scene.

The fourth was a bit corny, but had most of the key points as the others. And IDK why everyone bitches. People hated Temple of Doom before, now you hate this one. All the Indies have a new tone every movie. Just please no aliens.

I didn't mind the fourth too much until the alien bullsh*t came into play... saying that, however, I think they can redeem themselves with a 5th. Just cut back on the CGI (like slysnide says) and make it a little more realistic like the first three. Maybe work on a 5th and 6th at the same time (like Cap Rumi says) cause once its done... Ford will be a little too old to pull it off again.

i think they should make another one, keep shia out of it, and move on with the adventures of dr. jones and marion. beats me what they would do. maybe fate of atlantis or something from one of the comic books that came out

Not surprisng that the studio is chasing money. And after 19yrs of disagreement over what the 4th film should've been, they finally do it, and are now going for a fifth. Strange.

It's like Yogurt said: "Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money." But I don't completely doubt it's possibility to succeed, but it needs less CGI to uphold the realism of the originals.
