Is this true? No official word has come out as of yet. Right now it is a fun rumor, with Flawed Hollywood noting "The Avengers just happens to be getting made into a movie in 2011, around the time that Desperate Housewives will be ending."
The Los Angeles Times speculates that the actress is up for the role of Janet Van Dyne, better known as The Wasp. The Avengers is set to hit theaters sometime in 2011, so that gives us plenty of time to air this rumor out.
Marvel's The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Hopefully just a rumour...there are more interesting characters out there to complete the Avengers roster(especially if they're not afraid of going in with a more "New Avengers" style) , and even if wasp was to figure in it I'd rather see a short haired Lucy Liu like in the Ultimates...

Hey, she'd do fine as the main-Marvel ccntinuity version of the Wasp. The Ultimates version does look to be more Asian, but not the main continuity one.
And yeah, she couldn't be as bad as Jessica Alba was in FF.
