Bill Paxton wants a 3D sequel for Twister
Apparently, the idea began to percolate in his mind when he visited the Ozarks with Scott Thomson who played Preacher in Twister. Here is what Paxton had to say about the project:
"We spent the night, and the next morning we got up and we started tracking the trail of the most famous tornado that ever hit the country, which was the Tri-State Tornado of 1925. It still holds all of the records. It was called the Tri-State because it was a mile wide when it came down from the sky on the afternoon of March 16, 1925, and it was a rural area, but, boy, before it was through, it crossed the Mississippi, it cut across southern Illinois, where it hit a lot of towns. The biggest one was Murphysboro, which was...it literally looked like Hiroshima after it hit. And then it went across the Wabash, into Indiana, staying on the ground three and a half hours and cutting a damage path 219 miles long, killing about 700 people. There's actually footage that I found in Murphysboro at their historical society. They had footage from a biplane that the government sent down, just to do aerial footage of all of the destruction and the damage. So we just did that to kind of get some ideas, and from that I kind of extrapolated an idea for a sequel. And I kind of put that together into a format, and now we're kind of waiting to see if that's going to move forward. That would need Steven Spielberg's blessing, ultimately, and they probably won't take it to him 'til there's real studio interest, but I think the 3D applications of that could obviously be pretty amazing."
Twister was released May 10th, 1996 and stars Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes, Jami Gertz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Lois Smith, Alan Ruck, Sean Whalen. The film is directed by Jan de Bont.

i really don't care.. if it is 3d its nice cause many people want to see 3d movies.. especially old 3d movies..so bring it on.. as long as its not a sequel and the fact that this is one pinches my heart a little bit..

I could imagine the The Day After Tomorrow's twisters in this movie, but more exposure. Hope they put 'wind works' inside theaters with this one, if possible. Agree to CelluloidDreams how difference an experience would be to Twister if Cameron styles this one.

seems like a decent movie.hopefully the 3-D effect doesn't destroy it by making it seem like another movie with a gimmick.

Yeah, a 3-D tornado movie would be awesome!! But dont make it a sequel to TWISTER. The original is a great movie and the sequel would only ruin it

the Narrator
3D would overrate the sequel and get non fans who wouldn't appreciate it, and bring them down to local theaters, expecting some cool deaths and flying objects like another Final Destination movie. But 3D might work here.
I am excited to see this. I really want PSH back on. He was awesome in the fist movie.

3D is a gimmick, but THIS would be amazing. one of the best sequel ideas (of the non-comic book background/franchise background) i've heard launched in a while! man i hope this idea happens!!!!

Why? what's the point in a sequel. I really liked the first one and I see no point in sequels, Helen Hunt is much older and Bill Paxton are much older. Next they'll be running around when both of them are in their eighties.

Vamp
The first "Twister" movie is still to this day one of my all time favorites. A sequel is a great idea. I'd like to see Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton return, for sure. 3D is kind of one of those love/hate things these days. You absolutely hate that everything is doing it, but sometimes it can turn out to be really cool. I like the idea of a "Twister" sequel in 3D. That could prove to have some really cool scenes. I hope this goes forward.
