Iron Man 3 is heading into over drive, with a trailer and poster set to debut next week, preceded by a special sneak peek when enough fans charge up Tony Stark's Arc reactor (Click Here!). Today, we received the official synopsis for this third adventure, which, all in all, comes across kind of vague. No need to worry about spoilers here!

"Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel's iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of Tales of Suspense (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with The Invincible Iron Man (#1) in May of 1968."

Iron Man 3 was released May 3rd, 2013 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale. The film is directed by Shane Black.

@rjh094, Iron Man 2 was about knocking Stark off of his c*cky pedistal, so he could not just be a cartoon and so he could embrace his Humanity, face death, make difficult choices and chip off a little bit of that ego, and to show that his legacy was still a bit tarnished by his fathers past decisions. It was also a great chance to introduce War Machine and show some robot carnage. Although Cheadle was very good, I'd rather have prefered to see LL Cool J or Tay Diggs in the Rhody role, taking over for Terence Howard. I thought though that it was a very respectable sequel.

Iron Man was nice game-changer. Iron Man 2 didn't know what it wanted to be about. Hopefully, this is an improvement.

@themoviefanatic@shuabert@narrator, also Whedon said That The Avengers 2 will be more Dark and Personal, and since the trailer description, Captain America 2 and Thor 2 storylines I began to put the pieces together and it really make sense for this characters to reunite and grow in the Marvel Universe, just think about, Phase 2 will be more dark and edgy, Thor: The Dark World, a major Character will be killed off, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, will deal with the return of Bucky in Steve's life, and since he is dealing with the modern world, anything could happen to him, Iron Man 3, like I said before is the event that changes Tony forever as a character......

@themoviefanatic@narrator@shuabert Pepper will be killed of, because that will be the tragedy that Tony has to overcome, he will blame himself for it at first, as it will happen on a very unnusual way that im not going to spoil, just wait to see the trailer next week, and you will understand why, when and how it happens.

  19. the Narrator

Agreed, @shuabert. Pepper is probably the most fleshed out female character that I've seen in a superhero related movie since Lois Lane, and killing her off, while effective, would be a double edged sword in my opinion.

I guess they had too much of that Tropic Thunder vibe, @redcameraman, and not enough actual wit (ala The Avengers). The party scene was a big letdown because they tried to convey Tony's alcoholic problems (his Demon in a Bottle arc) in the span of a single event that lasted all of ten minutes before he had some sense forcibly knocked into him by a rogue friend. Very disappointing. Hopefully the script will be more mature this time around, but that's not to say that I disliked the second film outright. ;)

  20. Red Camera Man

@narrator: Agreed. I didn't like the jokes in "Iron Man 2" and that was the biggest problem I had with the movie (most evenly the party scene with Tony Stark being drunk). Sam Rockwell was such a dick too, and I miss Terrence Howard as well; I don't like Don Cheadle really. Let's hope this 3rd film is an improvement, hopefully since Ben Kingsley is in it. :-)

I think Pepper is most likely going to be killed, as I seem to remember Paltrow saying she would not be returning for Avengers 2. If they're really going to go dark, it would make sense that that would be the event that would really shatter Tony's world. Although it's kind of a shame that they would use one of the few strong female characters they've established in the MCU as a mere plot device. I'd rather see Happy killed and Pepper stay around.

Iron Man 3 is the beginning of Phase 2, and reading the synopsis, Tony is going to grow as a character, and they might killed off Pepper...

@Roberto-Mata I highly doubt that Iron Man 3 will have any problems in the theaters, even though The Avengers was released to theaters before it.

@narrator@themoviefanatic@the-movieghost@corey@bawnian-dexeus@ROFLitschristian@therealGoku@phatalphd I agree Terrence Howard was a better Rhodey, but he was asking to much money, don't blame him all the way since the movies are a big hit. My question since The Avengers became the third place in the all time box office, will the solo films make that much money, and i also think it will be difficult to see this characters in their solo films since Avengers, and Iron Man 3 without Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner and their Bromance!!?
