I think it was a combination of things of why John left.
Shane will be a great replacement since I've seen one of his films.

I like this pick of Shane Black as the Director. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was a great, humorous film filled with witty dialogue. I know that Black will be able to fill the void of Jon Favreau's departure.

Not surprised these are RDJ movies and i'm cool with that as long as there is still some continuity there after the Avengers.

I liked IM2 but it lost a lot of it's charm, sorry if this has been stated in previous posts. I;m not reading all that. HAHHA

I don't really care if Happy Hogan doesn't return. He was just the driver lol. Pretty minor and forgettable/unnecessary to drive the story forward :P

@narrator Some great points listed below.

I was disappointed with how QUICK the final fight was between Iron Man, War Machine & Whiplash. But I loved, loved, LOVED the dialog and all the little character's idiosyncrasies & interactions... "Oh, I see I lost BOTH the kids in the divorce..." So funny!

If it is true that RDJ has got final say in who is appointed director, then I have FAITH in his judgement... Not sure about the alleged feud between Favreau & RDJ, but I hope that Favreau returns as Happy Hogan!

Iron Man was fantastic! Iron Man 2 was great! Looking forward to seeing what Iron Man 3 brings to the franchise!

I'm all for another Iron Man. We need to see him fight Mandarin. The animated movie was great, and if they can come close to that, I'd love it.

The easter eggs have to be there to move the Avengers theme along. Favreau knew that these things were going to be leading to The Avengers, so for him or Downey for that matter to get upset about them is quite ridiculous.

As for anyone that thinks IM3 is unnecessary, you're wrong. Marvel has created a way to thread their movies together, with The Avengers being the lynchpin. The individual movies are needed to set up the team movies.

I would think Superhero movies in general would be a thousand times better, if the studios bucked up and realized that a 2 and a half hour movie isn't bad. Personally, If they needed a whole 2.5 or even 3 hours to fit all character developments, fight scenes, etc. I would be down for it. I hate going to see a Superhero movie and have it be a mere 1 hour 40 minutes tops. Just give us a huge epic 3 hour movie we wont forget.

Which speaking of, I really really hope the Avengers will be a 2.5-3 hour movie.

@ensigndesign & @bane5000: RDJ was also upset with the final cut as Favreau apparently used some takes or scenes he didn't like. So it was a two way street there. Apparently Superhero films allow the star more authority off the set than with regular films. The Avengers' Easter Eggs didn't really distract ot detract from the plot though to the point where Favreau should be upset about it. Oh well.

@ensigndesign...Thats wat i read on several websites, that Favreau was unhappy with the outcome of the film due to marvel interferring to much in the production and wanting it to be very Avengers related with all the easter eggs, which Favreau felt took away from the movie he wanted to make and both he and RDJ were dissapointed with the film and it strained there friendship

@TheNarrator I read (maybe on here) that Favreau and Robert Downey Jr had some major disagreements and ended up hating each other at the end of IM2 and that is the reason Favreau dropped out of IM3. Do or anyone know if there is any truth to that?

@narrator Great Points! Quick questions: Rumour also had it that Jackson didn't want just a 'cameo' but more scenes hence another reason for Aventures plug? Downey brought in Justin, you think Downey brought in Shane? And yes last act sucked. All that built up for Rourke and was completely wasted at the end. Looking at Sin City with Commentary with Rodriguez and Miller and can't believe the IM2 studio would let such an actor of his caliber go to waste.
