Iron Man 3 Eyes Shane Black

Shane Black to possibly direct Iron Man 3
Shane Black to possibly direct Iron Man 3
It was announced right before Christmas that Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau would not be back to direct Iron Man 3.

Shane Black, who previously worked with Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. on Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and has a good working relationship with the actor, is now being eyed to fill the void left by Jon Favreau.

Shane Black is not a lock for the directorial position on Iron Man 3, as Marvel Studios is continuing to look at writers and directors for the project.

At this time, Marvel Studios is keeping the plotline of Iron Man 3 a secret. Shane Black has taken meetings with Marvel executives, and his ideas for the continuation of this popular franchise has impressed the studio.

At this time, Iron Man 3 does not have a set start date.

Iron Man 3 comes to theaters May 3rd, 2013 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Jessica Chastain, James Badge Dale. The film is directed by Shane Black.

Sorry, meant christopher Nolan. I had a brain fart and left the first name. The Break up thing was a joke.

@vanboy what has Bruce Nolan done, I'm not familiar with his movies. If you noticed, Jon Favreau has moved on and directed 'Cowboys & Aliens'. I think he's doing pretty well for himself and doesn't need do a sequel to 'The Break-Up'.

Really? I loved both films and thought Favreau did an awesome job with both of them and I hate to see him not involved with the third one! Having said that, I liked Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang so Black might be a decent option.

IRONMAN was a leap IRONMAN2 was a sink, my views is Marvel must have urged him to direct IRONMAN 3 so it can be an opener for Avengers but he ushered that away and said "i want to make a career first of all, im not bound to it" well Jon redeem yourself because num 2 was a sell out, also were you actually happy with the out come? What does Junior think?

Here we go again! James Cameron did Terminator and T2 and then left to get wet (again). Then Mostow came along and he had to put HIS spin on the franchise and we get a bunch of lame, self aware jokes.

This will suck! I mean, what is Favreau going to do, star in the Break-Up 2? These diva directors all do this. They create something, get people liking it, and then jump ship and leave the fans in the hands of sup-par directors to set a course into lame land declaring how great THEIR vision is going to be. Raimi was talking about doing it before he had the rug pulled out from under him, in favor of that anemic reboot of Spiderman, Tim Burton did Batman and Batman Returns, and then Joel Schumacher takes over and makes everything neon and camp and puts nipples on the bat suit, Jackson almost did it with The Hobbit until Del Toro wimped out, and Bruce Nolan almost did it until (I guess) they studio threw more cash at him, Bryan Singer did X-Men and X-Men United, and then Brett Ratner shows up and kills off, not one, not two, but three cool main characters in X-Men The Last Stand and sends the franchise down in flames, never to be saved. And to top it off, he left a secondary character in charge of the school which was the platform for the whole idea in the movies.

How many times must fans be kicked in the teeth by people who don't give a damn about the very people who fill their pockets? Hasn't it been quite enough, that Hollywood has bit the hand that feeds? Shane Black will probably put nipples on Iron Man and War Machine and have them make out. Is that another guy that he's hugging in the photo above? Woops, I think that's Robert Downie Jr.

Oh my God Slysnide, you're right. I can't belive it. The nerdy guy from Predator. I didn't even recognize him.

Too bad they dumped Favreau. Apparently squabbles with RDJ being upset with the final cut of "Iron Man 2" also had something to do with it. But Shane Black? That guy cast as Hawkins in "Predator" as an excuse to rewrite the script? The writer of the original "Lethal Weapon"? Hek, I'm on board with that!

Favreau, Favreau, Favreau!! He gave the franchise its popularity on the big screen through his direction. I enjoyed both Iron Man and Iron Man 2. Without Favreau I don't think the third film will have as much zealous as its predecessors.

Guy's they have to focusw on getting a director now so that they'll have a script by the end of the year so that they can film next year and make their May 3rd, 2013 release date.

I LOVE Shane Black, I think he would be a great choice. He always has a great personality with his films. I don't think it's to soon, they need to think now on it and not try to rush it later on down the line.

This ariticle has it painted that Favreau left by his choice. By all news releases, he was asked to step down for some unknown reason. So why is it, they say "void left by Favreau"? Shouldn't it say, " for void left by studio's desision to replace Favreau"? Couse that was what happend....
