A new rumor is floating around that Shane Black's superhero sequel, Iron Man 3, will debut on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday August 27, 2013.

No special features have been confirmed by the studio, but it has been rumored that the extra footage included in the Chinese version will be edited into a short film and made available on the DVD. Both the DVD and Blu-ray will likely include some behind-the-scenes footage focusing on the FX in the film. You can also bet that there will be an audio commentary with director Shane Black and writer Drew Pearce.

Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

The project has brought in over $300 million domestically and over $700 million in the foreign market.

Iron Man 3 was released May 3rd, 2013 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale. The film is directed by Shane Black.

@corey Yes, I remember when it used to take several months. Alot regarding that has changed quite a bit, since around 2009 or 2010 if I remember correctly.

Too soon. This movie will still be at my theater probably till the end of June. So only a month and a half to it's release on shelves? Remember when this used to take several months?

@2movieguys It can't hurt to see a movie in theaters, especially a movie like Iron Man 3 in 2D. It maybe not be a special movie, but its good, fun and entertaining.

@themoviefanatic its the same thing as deathly hollows part 1 when at world's end was released it too was really popular and spent all that money making the film and couldnt afford making the dvd so they didnt release the film until months later

@undeadslayer4 What does that have to do with it ?

@themoviefanatic thats because it had spent most of its money making the film

@undeadslayer4 That's true. I remember that had happened to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, it was released to theaters on May 25th 2007 and didn't come out on Blu-ray and dvd until 7 months later on December 4th 2007.

@undeadslayer4 Movies didn't always take 3 to 4 months to be released on Blu-ray and/or Dvd. Movies use to take at least 7 months or so to be released on Blu-ray and/or Dvd.

@themoviefanatic they always come out 3 or 4 months

@thedude-abides Yeah, that has happened quite a bit with movies in recent years, with movies like Alice in wonderland and Clash of the Titans and Snow White and the Huntsman and Wrath of the Titans to name a few that came out on Blu-ray only 3 months after their theatrical releases.

@bawnian-dexeus you gotta admit, some of those deviant art custom made covers are actually better than what is put out on shelves.

@ghostman I believe Iron Man 3's August 27th Blu-ray release date might be announced in July 2013, around a month or so before its released on Blu-ray. The reason why I say that is because Oz: The Great and Powerful's Blu-ray release date announcement, was on Wednesday May 1st around a month before its June 11th Blu-ray release date.

@themoviefanatic I know Sean. I've seen other websites say the same thing too. Like I said before, when their is an official announcement from Disney, then I will believe it is being released on August 27th.

As of right now, it is only rumored, nothing has been confirmed yet. Which is what I am waiting for.

@ghostman@slysnide These two websites here > http://www.thehdroom.com/news/Iron-Man-3-Blu-ray-Release-Date-Earlier-Than-Expected/12510 and also http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Iron-Man-3-Blu-ray/32764/ , also show that Iron Man 3 is coming out on Blu-ray on Tuesday August 27th 2013.

  23. Ghostman

@slysnide The Avengers was released on blu-ray/DVD in September, so I wouldn't be surprised if IM3 comes out that month too.

@ghostman@themoviefanatic: The reason they wouldn't put out an official street date just yet, is because they don't want people to react like @2movieguys did, and wait to rent it. They want people to be left in the dark as to when it's released so they can get people to go and see it multiple times. So in the end it could still be released on 8/27, but I'm thinking it'll either be released on either 9/24, 10/1, or 10/29 right before "Thor2" is released to get people hyped for that. If indeed it does come out on 8/27, I'll be very surprised.

  25. Ghostman

@themoviefanatic That's the thing, Disney hasn't said anything, so as of right now, this is not the official release date.

    11 months agoby @ghostmanFlag

  26. Sean

@ghostman I would think that August 27th is its Blu-ray release date because if was changed, then they would've said what its Blu-ray release is then and they wouldn't just say that August 27th as its Blu-ray release date isn't accurate.

  27. Ghostman

@themoviefanatic If Disney said this isn't an official street date yet, then it has probably changed to a different date.
