'Iron Man 3' Already Location Scouting

The Record, which serves Troy, New York, and its surrounding areas, confirmed yesterday that Iron Man 3 is currently scouting for locations in the area, and that Marvel Studios has taken an interest in Troy's EMPAC building.

EMPAC stands for Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center, which was created by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and opened in October of 2008. Marvel Studios is interested in using the building as the secret lab for its next bad guy, which is rumored to be Mandarin.

Marvel Studios has not locked the location down as of yet, but are planning ahead to insure they can use the facility for Iron Man 3, which will be shot shortly after 2012's The Avengers, itself set with a May, 2013 release date.

Rensselaer spokesman Michael Mullaney stated, "These types of location scouting inquiries and negotiations about EMPAC take place all the time. At this point, there is absolutely nothing certain or definitive about Iron Man 3."

Iron Man 3 was released May 3rd, 2013 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale. The film is directed by Shane Black.

Here are my thoughts on the subject.... the first Iron Man was great because it wasn't referencing and setting up Avengers every two seconds. It had some subtle hints, but it wasn't like "Okay, stop the story of Iron Man 2, we're talking about The Avengers movie now". On top of being Iron Man's first outing and RDJ doing what RDJ does.

Having said that though, I did enjoy Iron Man 2 more then it seems a lot of people did. Sam Rockwell was great, the action that was in it was great, and I liked where they took Stark and Pott's relationship. I was satisfied enough.

For Iron Man 3, since it'll be after the Avengers movie, it can get back to focusing just on Iron Man himself, and benefit from that.

I loved the first one, the second one not so much. It wasn't terrible, it just lacked what the first one had. I will probably watch this to see if they succeed on making this one any better.

I nominate good old MIAMI, FL. I mean the 305 needs some movie popularity and Iron-man 3 can be that popularity

I'm more looking forward to Iron Man III than avengers mainly because i think that The Avengers is including too many heroes for one movie.

agrred, Iron Man 2 is good, but not as great as the first one. Im still more excited for Iron Man 3 than I am for The Avengers due to the recent news of budget cuts and location changes.

@babyH, Iron Man II was not that bad. It just was not as good as the first film.

Didn't know they were goin' for the trifecta. Too bad I won't be seeing it after the horrendous effort in the last film.
