Inglorious Bastards Draws Ire from Germans
"All the German historians and critics who were left gasping for breath by Tom Cruise and his worthy attempts will be so shocked by 'Inglorious Bastards' that they will savage it on the spot," wrote Tobias Kniebe, the film editor of Suddeutsche Zeitung.
Kniebe did personally enjoy the script, but added, "the collision between Tarantino-style pop culture with the themes of the Holocaust and Jewish revenge (the 'Bastards' of the film are Jewish-American Nazi hunters) is unprecedented in Germany and its results are completely unpredictable."
What might be more fuel for the fire is that the production would likely receive money from the German governmnet, through the DFFF film fund that grants tax breaks to productions that film in Germany, and Inglorious Bastards will be filmed in Berlin.
Inglorious Bastards is set to begin production on October 13 in Berlin.
Inglourious Basterds was released August 21st, 2009 and stars Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger. The film is directed by Quentin Tarantino.

To all of you who are bashing Germans here: Go and talk to an actual German! They are not at all denying their past. In fact I'm not sure if there's a more self-chastening country in this world. Normally they are concerned about the issue being treated with a lack of respect (towards the victims), that the whole thing could be rediculed or that the historical facts shown, might not be accurate enough. And NOT about looking bad. I'm sure this will be the case here too.
All the Germans I ever met know that what happened was probably the worst thing in the history of humankind and are ashamed of it. They are overly sensitive to the topic but that's because they are afraid somebody might think they are still Nazis.

Inglorious Bastards will rule with Tarantino fans and the box office...
As for some Germans worrying about their post WW2 public relations in the 21st century...You older generation, racist f*ckholes committed such extreme genocidal atrocities in a bid for world domination that was so Heinous and still hope that IT will be swept under the proverbial rug since a few decades have past and build some nice cars...Own your history, not your diatribes on films that resonate truths via Valkyrie & Inglorious Bastards.

sometimes I don`t understand the germans, it feels like they wan`t to forget what happend for 12 years of there country.
seriuosly if you are gonna make a ww2 set in europe, and if you really are gonna make it as genuine as possible, why not shoot with real germans playing the villains and film in berlin?
it feels like this will be Quentins biggest movie so far, and I am overexcited about it!

Oh come on, it's a MOVIE. If Tarantino's directing it it'll be incredible(I'm leaving Death Proof out of this statement). So just let the man make his film.

f*ck the Germans. Who cares? Its a god damn movie. if they don't like it, then perhaps they should have thought twice about killing all the Jews. Angry pricks who don't like being poked fun at for their wrongdoings.
We have the firepower to wipe you the f*ck off the earth. But do we? No, instead we make movies that satire your existence.
You forget one thing, this is America and we own you!
