The Indiana Jones saga may be heading for a 3D conversion
Blue Sky Disney is reporting a new rumor that LucasFilm will convert the entire Indiana Jones saga - Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom, Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull into the 3D format.

This rumor comes on the heels of last month's news that the company is converting the original Star Wars trilogy - Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. That trilogy will be ready for 3D theaters sometime in 2012.

There's not much known about this new Indy conversion, with the site claiming LucasFilm will officially announce the news next month. The site also reports that Raiders Of The Lost Ark will be the first movie released. It isn't known when these movies will be hitting theaters in the 3D format.

This new story hasn't been confirmed by LucasFilm. We'll be sure to inform you when, and if, an official statement is announced.

Raiders of the Lost Ark was released June 1st, 1981 and stars Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Paul Freeman, Ronald Lacey, John Rhys-Davies, Denholm Elliott, Alfred Molina, Wolf Kahler. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom was released May 1st, 1984 and stars Harrison Ford, Kate Capshaw, Jonathan Ke Quan, Amrish Puri, Roshan Seth, Philip Stone, Roy Chiao, David Yip. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade was released May 24th, 1989 and stars Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Denholm Elliott, Alison Doody, John Rhys-Davies, Julian Glover, River Phoenix, Michael Byrne. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released May 22nd, 2008 and stars Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Shia LaBeouf, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, Igor Jijikine. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

@daveactor7 lmao oh. Yeah, didn't read it but still, the Crystal Skull was very bad and the series should of ended at the Last Crusade.

One of the Jaws films is in 3D, the only one I liked the most was the first.
I don't mind 3D films, but not all the time. Next thing we know, disc films will be obsolete and we would have to watch them on TV instead. Though I did hear that computers and TV's are emerging together.

@titanictom probably, you know when the dvd player came out a great deal of people thought is was absurd, but now a vcr is nearly impossible to find. And a generation from now 2d movies will probably be almost impossible to find.

why is everyone so pissed about this? This really isnt that different than converting movies to bluray. Not every movie is gonna be perfect when converting movies to bluray. And this actually gives some of our favorite films a chance to go back to theaters. I would love to see most of the movies they are converting to 3d back in theaters. Besides the thing with crappy 3d converts is that in most of them you could take your glasses off and it wouldnt make any difference. So that extra 3 dollars, think of it as a convenience price to go see a movie you always wished you could have seen on the big screen but never got a chance.

It's not a coincidence that this series will also be converted into 3D, while ALL the sagas, trilogies and multiplogies are converted. Producers will have a great time during these 3D releases.

retro-fit 3D does not work! Spielberg and Lucas already raped Indy with Crystal Skull. Please just leave these films alone and go make something fresh.

and so it continues... George Lucas's terror of converting, remixing and revisiting his propertys without trying to come up with something half way original... the more and more they release news of that guys ambitions the more and more i lose respect for him *sigh*

May I ask which pohotshop-happy editor keeps posting these needless articles about a film's transference to 3D with the attached picture always having a set of dorky glasses on? Is it to accomodate visual learners or something?

Watch them say they might release the Henry Jones Jr. movies in 3D after Star Wars. I don't see any reason for them to this, and I bet they don't either.

@Marin010. I know this is difficult for people like you to understand, but this is a public forum board where members post their opinions on various subjects, such as - oh my god! - the 3D conversion of classic films like Raiders of the Lost Ark, et al. Now take a deep breath and play nice.

    Or f*ck off.
