Shia LaBeouf says Indiana Jones 5 is right around the corner
When Mutt speaks, people listen. According to actor Shia LaBeouf, who played son to infamous archeologist Henry Jones Jr. (Harrison Ford) in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the next and not-quite-final installment of the Steven Spielberg directed adventure series is right around the corner.

About Indiana Jones 5, Shia LaBeouf revealed that Harrison Ford is staying in the gym preparing for the physically intense role while creator George Lucas tries to create a treasure for Indy and Mutt to hunt down.

Here is what he had to say.

"I talked to [Harrison Ford]. He said he's staying in the gym, he said he's heard no word, but he does know that [George Lucas] is out there looking for a MacGuffin. He said he's staying in the gym, so it means [the movie is] not so far off. I mean, [George]'s got to let it sit. He's going through his ruminations, which is extensive."

well this is one reason why i hate hollywood..

why can they not just leave the classic movies alone?

The First 3 Indiana Jones Movies were Great and for me the crystal skull was a huge mistake.. last crusade ending was perfect

One was great, two was good, and three was amazing. I found four entertaining story wise, but the way the film was made was terrible, especially considering it was Spielberg. Way to much CGI. If they do five with more practical sets, it could be awesome. I also hope they go back to a biblical artifact. Something along the lines of Moses staff or Noah's ark. If they go with a non-biblical item, I think Atlantis would be cool.

Five really needs to be better and if it isn't then I'll say good bye for good.

The first three were great (the second being just a bit off but still fun) but the Crystal Skulls flick just wasn't anywhere near great, this film needs to help the series bounce back in a big way or it's time to hang up the whip for awhile.

    @diaigma Definitely.

@thedude-abides - like Temple of Doom? I give Skull credit for at least following the formula that made 1 and 3 work so well. We need another 1 or 3 to end this.

  9. thedude-abides

@diaigma That irked me as well. I guess they thought they could get away with those things seeing as how it was modeled after a B-movie.

Didn't like 4, but I wasn't a huge fan of 2 either. Loved 1 and 3! I could have even coped with the aliens had they explained it better. @diaigma, I agree, the jungle chase scene, Mutt swinging from vines, the 3 waterfalls and lets not forget riding out a nuclear explosion in a refrigerator...

like most everyone else i was very disapointed in the last film. There was way too much CGI and not enough practical effects and real locations. The last film felt as if everything was done on terrible sets and green screens (which i know is Lucas's big thing) but it really subtracted from realistic vibe of the originals. I dont know thats just me.

and i agree with @thedude-abides and @stiles Mutt...not so sure about (maybe another film to round him out) but Marion seemed to always be smiling during the most terrible moments where their lives were in danger. Didnt seem real. Although, and i say this with a bit ofshame...i sometimes laugh histerically while i am in morbid danger. I know crazzzzy right? Thats what my platoon sgt thought but once that adrenaline gets pumping...well it is what it is.

@thedude-abides - I didn't mind the aliens. It was the ants, ridiculous jungle chase scene, and surviving three waterfalls that did it for me. And the natives? Were they zombies or alive? The Russians had no problem mowing them down, it seems :P

The Adventures of Tintin comics had a go with ancient aliens, too. Hopefully they won't incorporate that story with the films they plan on making :P

Mutt could be a good character if the character was written well. Shia is actually not a bad actor.

  16. thedude-abides

@stiles Oh, I agree. I hated both Mutt and Marion being in the film. Mutt was bad enough, then they had to go and throw Marion in on top of it. I didn't mind the other stuff as much as you, I guess. Overall, I thought it was way better than Temple of Doom and on par at least with Last Crusade, but that's just me.

  17. Stiles

@thedude-abides my issue wasn't the super-natural element in Crystal Skull as that's always been present in Indy films. It was more the bad script, story, dialogue and acting (see Mutt & Marion).

    12 months agoby @stilesFlag

  18. thedude-abides

The entire notion of the crystal skulls is misunderstood. People see aliens in an Indiana Jones movie and they freak out. Jones is a treasure hunter; not a religious artifact archeologist. He deals in the occult as well as the supernatural.

Indiana Jones 4 was the worst movie of the series, there is no need for A 5th movie.

I would like Ford to do The Expendables 2 instead of Indiana Jones 4.

Maybe they should just do one off of one of the old video games like Atlantis or Emperor's Tomb.
    Or have him find:
    The Garden of Eden
    Fountain of Youth
    avalon
    camelot
    el dorado
    Asgard
Some mystical relic that dates back more than 10,000 years ago that was used during a battle where nuclear warheads were used as mentioned in the Mahabharata.
