Idris Elba discusses possibly playing Luke Cage or Blade
"I wouldn't mind having a crack at bringing Blade back, personally." He says with a wry smile, echoed with a laugh from his manager. "But erm, there's a couple of things there that they have... Luke Cage is... very interesting."
We reported last July that original Blade director Stephen Norrington and actor Stephen Dorff were developing a Blade prequel trilogy, although it wasn't clear if Idris Elba was referring to this project, or if he was merely joking about it. Luke Cage has been in development for some time now. We'll continue to keep you posted on any Marvel news as soon as we have more information.
Luke Cage is in development . The film is directed by John Singleton.
Blade was released August 19th, 1998 and stars Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, N'Bushe Wright, Donal Logue, Udo Kier, Arly Jover, Traci Lords. The film is directed by Stephen Norrington.

i don't know anything about luke cage except that the old sp*ce guy wants to play him, and i never cared for the blade movies, but if he does either i will definitely at least rent it.

@incmob yeah.. teaming up with another group,, its been done.. and plus trinity didnt feel like a conclusion.. part 2 feeled more like a ending of a trilogy... and the ending fight scene... it was wack,,, wasnt even epic.. but yeah... hope its a rumor... well he can do luke cage.... never heard of this character but imma google it.

@Daveactor7 - Dude, I totally agree with that, I've been saying the same thing for years. Djimon Hounsou would be the ideal Black Panther. He's perfect for the role.
In fact, I think he was actually rumored for that role back in the day, if I remember right.

He needs to leave Blade alone. There is a reason why the TV show didn't do well with someone else portraying the character. Snipes was great at it. He's better off doing Luke Cage. That way when we hear the name we picture him, the way we picture Snipes when we hear the name Blade.

i agree leave blade alone... cant say i am a huge snipes fan, but thought he owned blade for whatever its worth. @ChuChi... i agree to some extent, i feel that trinity was a horrible film, i thought that they tried to make the third film too much like the second and failed miserably, Blade is the only one of his kind and so him being grouped up with all of these other characters i frankly dont give a flying hoot about tends to take away from his isolation, he is not out to make friends, but simply to take out some freakin blood suckers. with that note though, although i think goyer is a great writer, and trinity was bad, i did feel that the invisible was a pretty good film, that he also directed... not oscar worthy, but entertained me nonetheless, unlike trinity did. hopefully they can squeeze a couple more out of snipes.

nawww. they should do another conclusion for the blade trilogy.. blade triny was bad..david goyer is a great writer but his directing aint that great.. well blade trinity was his first movie but still.. del toro should direct it again or that director that did underworld and live free or die hard... it wasnt dark or good fighting scenes like the rest of the blades movie... but anyways.... no reboot.. they should do another one with snipes... and no ryan renold... his good but he makes the movie look like a joke with all his lil sarcastic jokes and all..

Tyrese Gibson sucks. Luke cage is huge like jacked Id rather Terry Crews for cage thats just me I like the guy as an actor.. Djimon hounsou would be perfect for Black Panther... and Blade, Sticky Fingaz Jones..(Im Kidding).. Someone mentioned Michael J White hes cool but theres a list of Black/African American actors who can act someone should be perfect for these rolls.

Elba as Luke Cage. Hounsou as Black Panther. That's fine, as long as Marvel recognizes one important thing: If they decide to bring Blade back, Snipes gets a call before anyone else. He deserves that, since it was his character, not Spider-Man, that actually put Marvel movies on the map.

mmm I think idris.. would be good for LUKE CAGE... but not blade... I think personally blade would be for michael jai white... he knows kung fu, he has the body and he may not be a great actor. but blade. is a character that hardly talks so michael wouldnt be talking much....
