Ian McKellen reprises his role of Gandalf in The Hobbit
Gandalf has an important role in the story, as he literally gets the adventure started in The Hobbit. Ian McKellen's involvement has been hinted at and rumored for quite some time. We reported back in November that Ian McKellen took to his official website to announce his return as Gandalf. Now the deal has officially been finalized. Elijah Wood is also returning as Frodo Baggins and Cate Blanchett will reprise her role of Gandriel from the original trilogy. An offer is out to Orlando Bloom, although it isn't known yet if he will come back as Legolas.
Our story from earlier today indicates that Christopher Lee and Ian Holm are in talks to reprise their roles of Saruman and an older Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. Casting news for this highly-anticipated project is coming in faster than ever lately, so don't be surprised to hear more about The Hobbit in the very near future.
Production on The Hobbit is slated to begin on February 14 in New Zealand.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes to theaters December 14th, 2012 and stars Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee. The film is directed by Peter Jackson.

he says it this way: 'YOU' takes a short pause 'Shall not' takes another short pause 'pass'. Hits the stone bridge with his magic walking stick, it crumbles as the Del-rock- sorry got carried away
Personally I liked it when Samwise Gamshie was taking about Frodo as a hero, Frodo turns and says to him. You left out one of the main characters,
'You shouldn't make fun' Sam ponders
'I'm not' Frodo says with a slight smile.
I think I've forgotten something, but let me remind all of you. This news is rehashed, this came out last November

Glad to see this. It would've been horrid if they had chosen someone else to play them.
