Wow dude, how can you not like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy? Where you deprived as a child or something? I guess James Bond is cool, I liked the James Bond Jr. cartoon better though. Whatever, I've liked everything Jackson's done except maybe for King Kong, that was a bit too long. Dead Alive will always be a classic though, along with Bad Taste.
Either way, I can't wait for the Hobbit, one of my all time favorites animations as a kid, so it will be cool to see it live action. I just hope Del Torro doesn't put those stupid monsters in it. Don't get me wrong I liked Pan's Labyrinth and the Hellboy movies were OK, but it seems he puts those same looking monsters in everything. We'll see I guess

Newkill200 is a Bond freak, he watches every film day in and day out. Well that's his thing, not everyone loves this trilogy except for me.
I have both versions, special addiction and normal film. It's even better and slightly longer than the normal version.
I sure hope there is both for the two hobbit films.

Awesome news! I think we all pretty much knew this was going to happen but awesome nonetheless. Now they need to get Brian Blessed on board for one of the Dwarves, preferably a key one like Thorin or Balin.

Illuminati
should be good. P.Jackson would have been the perfect director.
Del Toro is the best second choice. He is creative with characters/looks/themes. Sci-fi Fantasy is his boundaries and should stick to it.

Nice
I still wish that Peter Jackson would come back to make this movie. I don't like the look that Del Toro brings to EVERY film he does.

The council was only alluded to in the novel. The White Council banded together and banished The Necromancer(Sauron) out of Dol Guldur, his fortress in Mirkwood, which led him to flee to Mordor. All of this is only alluded to in the novel(its spoken about more in depth in The Silmarillion), but Del Toro plans to show us this, and like I said, you can't have a White Council without its leader, Saruman. I can't think of a better way to lead into the LOTR than having Sauron arrive in Mordor and becoming hellbent on finding the One Ring. Though if the movie doesn't end with Bilbo returning to The Shire with two bags of treasure, and him and Gandalf sharing a laugh as Bilbo passes him the tobacco jar, someones getting shot.

I am looking forward to the Hobbit alot. I feel if Lee wants to film his stuff in LA, then no biggie. Film his small spots in LA. The only part he is involved in is very small in if any. But for what I remeber of the Hobbit, the Counsel realy was not in the book. The book realy on has dwarves and Elves, and there is no casting out of the Necromancer in the Hobbit. So unless there wants to be a built up in the prequal for the LOTR's main trilogy. The Hobbit is the hobbit. I dont thing other then a small role for build up to the LOTR, no other stroy lines should be inbedded into it.

If Del Toro plans on including The White Council, and the banishing of the Necromancer, then he's not only going to have to get Lee back, but also Cate Blanchett. Blanchett I don't see being a problem, but like you said Sly, Lee doesn't want to travel to NZ. Hopefully Del Toro can work around him, because you can't have The White Council without it's leader.
