Empire recently chatted with Sir Ian McKellan who had plenty to say about a project he's definitely involved in - The Hobbit - and one that he might not be involved in - X-Men Origins: Magneto. When it comes to The Hobbit, it seems the writing process is coming to an end.

The scripts for the two films will be delivered very soon," he revealed. "Then they'll be budgeted, and then they'll be cast. And they'll be going when they've always said they would be, which is next spring - March or April. Guillermo even told me at one point, 'We're going to film for 383 days.' He's got that artistic autism! Jackson's the same; they're very, very, very alike. They also very different, but they've so much in common. They both can't stand Hollywood and have wonderful imaginations, and they're both obsessed with gore and fantasy. Both of them laugh a great deal. Guillermo's one of the most brilliant men I've ever met. His English vocabulary is way superior to mine!"

Talk then shifted to X-Men Origins: Magneto, a project which he revealed there was a script for, but that he probably won't be involved in.

"There's meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I've not read it, so I suspect it wouldn't involve me," he said. "I think it would be about the younger Magneto, and the most I could hope for would be to top and tail that. They can't have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer!"

I'm looking forward to The Hobbit.

The Hobbit was always my favorite chapter, even though it was really a separate story from the Lord of the Rings. I sincerely hope that Del Toro does this story justice and not just turn it into a pot-worthy mind freak-out flick. Can't wait!

I really wish people would try to form a comment that doesn't look like they've been sucking on 5000 bottles of Jim Bean.

Singer is attached to the Magneto Spin-off, when he recently talked about returning to the X-men movie verse, he confirmed, he wanted to co-write and direct the project he is just waiting for Fux, to find him a screenwriter.
But Fux don't believe that X-Men Origins: Magneto is a major priority to them at the moment and are focusing on their main projects which they reckon are Wolverine 2 & Deadpool.

Despite the simple fact that a Magneto Origin film has more potential than both those films

him doing the narrative for the magneto film sounds kool, at the end of the film or any sequels, the final shot is an old magneto in Genosha telling a group of young mutants his life story and wat hes been through and finaly finding peace in the mutant paradise

Can't wait for The Hobbit. And I think him narrating the Magneto movie would be a great idea. I just hope Singer directs it.

I have a bad feeling about the Magneto spin-off...unless, as Comrade said, it's directed by Singer.

He's got to be in the Magneto film, but then again I don't wanna see him in a mindless film. He's too great an actor to do that.

P.S. More hate comments for Kirsten Dunst. Poor girl. Why can she keep playing MJ? People grow old you know. It wouldn't be realistic if 20 years from now the character is still a teenager.

Kirsten Dunst/Mary Jane, take note... a respectable actor has just admitted that you can grow out of a role. And yet, he said nothing bad about a new Magneto film going forward. Great idea on narrating and agreed with him showing up in the end of the film as if he was reflecting back. This man is incredible on screen.
