Hulk in development for 2013
Guillermo del Toro is attached to this hour long drama as a producer, and its been given a bump of enthusiasm by the Hulk's appearance in this summer's billion dollar movie Marvel's The Avengers.
This is what ABC president Paul Lee said while announcing the rest of ABC's impending slate.
"Hulk is in development. It wasn't going to be ready this season but we hope it's going to be ready for next season."
About other Marvel properties coming to ABC via the small screen, Lee had this to say.
"We're immensely proud to be a company with Marvel's The Avengers. We're going to continue to develop aggressively. We've got some in development, but none that I can talk about at this point."
Its too early to tell what this means for a third Hulk stand-alone film, and its highly unlikely that Mark Ruffalo will star in this small screen adaptation. ABC is owned by Walt Disney, the company behind Marvel Studios. A TV series based on The Punisher is also said to be in the works for ABC TV.
Would anyone frown at a Teen Hulk on ABC Family?

i think it whould be really incredible to have hulk tv series. Because HULK IS A BIG GUY AND DISSERVES A BIGGER THING. big guys must have Big things. AND ALSO FOR A MOVIE YOU CAN ONLY FIT no more than 3 villains. BUT FOR A TV SERIES YOU CHOULD ESTABLISH AND PUT AS MANY VILLAINS AS YOU WANT.

Yes, I would love the HULK TV Show to show the hulk as a teenager in high school and action figure toys for the show.

I can see it working if it sticks to the more traditional Hulk formula of having him travel around, meeting different people and helping them, and he only becomes Hulk for a small portion of each episode. Otherwise the budget will just be too large for TV, especially if they try to get Rufallo for the role (which I think is unlikely).

@skywise I know. It just wouldn't work out well.

the third TV series
after the Bill Bixby series and the 90s cartoon I hope that they can air this for a while otherwise the Hulk franchise itself might as well slit its own wrists while it's still ahead
let's face it, the movies havent really been praised as great works
Ang Lee's version tanked critically despite lots of money, and the Louis Leterrier one was better received but for some reason tanked financially
strange.....
anyways, high hopes for Hulk's return to television

@skywise Honestly, i think that the Hulk would look tacky that way, if they had someone look like the Hulk, the same way that Hellboy's character was put together with make-up for the Hellboy movies.

Lay off of Smallville, I know quite a number of people didn't like it but you don't have to go there again.
I enjoyed for what it was and that's all.
Give the green giant a film career, TV wouldn't do it justice.

@Alan-Solares -- Agreed. Smallville was a complete joke from the start, and it winded up being a joke that didn't die. Thanks to schoolgirls and cougars, the show lasted 8-10 seasons.
I guess this is just another attempt at a prank.

this could be very dope....they better be using CGI though, no one wants to see someone painted green smashing stuff. Spend the money and do it right, and you'll make the money back with ratings and dedicated fans. Who wouldnt want to see the hulk every week?

@themoviefanatic he doesnt HAVE to be CGI'd. Look at what Del Toro did on Hellboy. there will probably be 2 actos like the old series one the scientist and then with prosthetics the other.....i have faith it could work but i think that people might be getting burned out of all these different Hulk incarnations as one person mentioned below

when people start throwing names around like, Guillermo del Toro i take notice. If anyone can do it he can.

will end up in the same spot as... birds of prey, witchblade, blade, wonderwoman and aquaman. This is not the 70's anymore... it may have worked well for that time frame, but not for now. plus, on top of that it would be the fourth hulk in a matter of 9 years span.

@cupid I agree with you on that. A sequel to the Incredible Hulk wth Mark Ruffalo playing the hulk would be good. Also, you're right, a tv show for the Hulk wouldn't work, because of the CGI would most likely not even be involved and wouldn't be good with out it being involved, it just would not turn out to good at all.

Why does every superhero show has to be A F*CKING SOAP-OPERA!! They f*cked up Superman show into Smallville, Blade into another canceled Sticky Fingaz video, Batman show might actually work since its already drama, The Hulk was the sh*t as drama show back in the oldies, but nobody wants to see muscle head painted green nowadays, so nay on this.

This isn't going to work, because we're not gonna get a CGI Hulk like in the movies so that's a fail right there and even if they did try doing it like in the movies the budget would be crazy high, all i want is a sequel to The Incredible Hulk (Ruffalo playing Banner of course) by 2014.

Not a live action version for a TV show.
The Punisher would only work if it was made as a film and under a great action director. I enjoyed the other two it's just as a TV show it wouldn't work very well. Look at Blade, yes I enjoyed it but it got cancelled.

Just to clarify, a Hulk tv show has been in the works (or at least been trying to get the green light) for some time now, before The Avengers was a financial juggernaut and the Hulk was praised so highly for his portrayal in the movie. That's just what got it the definite go-ahead. And who can blame them? A Hulk show worked before, it could work again. Only thing is that studios are a lil more inclined now to cancel big budget shows if they don't start off well right outta the gate.

this is a bad idea,
Dont start making tv shows of these guys just because the movie made millions, , it will bore the hell out of fans by da time the real film comes out.
Not to mention, the show will suck just like terminator did,

I like the idea of a live-action Hulk tv series. But I think the series should set up for the Avengers. The first season could take off after or even before The Avengers. Ruffalo should play Banner in the show. Then we also get cameos from Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and SHIELD. And then we shouldn't have ANOTHER Hulk reboot. I also like idea of a Punisher tv series, but from Disney/ABC? I do not like that. It should be SHOWTIME or HBO.

@artkid04 The difference here is that ABC would be forced to do everything it can to make Hulk a success. Thanks to The Avengers, Marvel is Disney's golden child. ABC will be careful not to give the short shrift to anything Marvel. But I would rather have a film.

Not liking this idea. The first hulk movie back in 2003 failed so they waited 5 years to reboot it for The Avengers and that did so so at the box office and now they want a TV series. What happens if the TV series doesn't do well? Another movie reboot?
I would much rather see a sequel to The Incredible Hulk than anything else. Let Ruffalo play Bruce Banner again and set it up for The Avengers 2.
