Hugh Laurie has left Los Angeles for the U.K. right in the middle of filming his hit Fox series House M.D.. According to Variety, the actor is attending to a "family obligation."

Show producers were tight-lipped about the reasons for Laurie's departure. A rep for Universal Media Studios stated, "Hugh had family obligations in England to attend to, but production is continuing in his absence. He asked for time off and they were happy to facilitate it."

Laurie's publicist denied that there was any funny business going on. She wanted to make one thing clear. "He'll be back on the set on Monday," she said.
