Hugh Jackman in talks for X-Men: Days of Future Past as Wolverine
The film follows the storyline from Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men in 1981, which is set in an alternate future where mutants are sent to concentration camps and most of the X-Men have been hunted and killed by the giant Sentinels. Back in the present day, the X-Men are tasked with stopping these events that brought their doom. The era in the comic's where known as the age of Apocalypse.
The character of Wolverine has made appearances in all of the films in the franchise and will have his second solo feature with The Wolverine on July 26th 2013.
X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters July 18th, 2014 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

I just realized something, This is totaly Xmen United with time travel and instead of the xmen and brotherhood banning together to stop Stryker, the Xmen and the Brotherhood are banning together with their future selves to stop the sentinels... am i the only one who drew that connection? its like rehash of a sequel that was already made.

It makes the most sense to have him be the one who comes back in time, since he's the character who doesn't age, and he has been the throughline for this universe so far.

altering the timeline from later X-Men series would be possible. They did on new Star Trek (prequel/reboot mix), now it has new timeline.
Wolverine maybe a key character from alternative Future to come back in the time to warn younger X-men. We would finally see more of Sentitals (sp?) since we only saw the hologram of it in the Danger Room in X3.

@dan1 I agree, Astonishing would be a great decision. Unfortunatly you are probably right about Wolvie.
Wolvie was once an interesting character. Never one of my favs but always interesting to the dynamic of the team. However, once they revealed all of the secrets of Wolvie's origins...the character lost a lot of appealto me.
I prefered the never-ending self doubt and disalusion of the old Logan.

@skywise@narrator If we were to see another interpretation of Kitty, I'd want it to be the Astonishing one. Of course that'll never happen.
I'm beginning to fear we'll have another Wolverine-centric story, he will hog the spotlight, since people have a raging boner for that character. Like Viagra induced.

@narrator It's really not a complicated story outside of the time traveling psyche of Kitty Pryde. It spans a whole two issues and while it is IMO one of Chris Claremont's best stories and arguably one of the greatest X men stories in general, there is a lot they COULD get right. I'm not holding my breath of course, but one can hope.

I think we all know what's up here, @skywise and @dan1. Singer will likely take elements from the "DoFP" arc, and mold them to fit his available cast, given budget, and f*cked-up timeline. Expecting anything more than similarities to the comics (which is probably one of the main reasons they're featuring the arc - it's a kick ass title!) is hopeful thinking on our parts. Hate to be the one to say it, @skywise, but you'll likely be disappointed in this film from a fans perspective. I doubt this'll be any more of an adaption of DoFP than TDK was of The Long Halloween. Heck, I doubt Kitty will make an appearance at all, buddy. We'll see, though.

@dan1 I think it would be awesome to get Ellen Page back but that would disintigrate any continuity between the movies.
Maybe Brian Singer could just move forward as if Last Stand never took place because trying to explain a lot of that could be problematic and one thing I dont want in my X Men movie is a lot of heavy exposition.
Having Ellen in the future segment could make sense but how would they explain her being in the First Class era?
I doubt Ellen Page will do it though.

Seems like there is a lot of room for disaster.
