Hugh Jackman heads to Michigan for Real Steel
The film will take place in a futuristic world where human boxing has been outlawed. A father (Jackman) and his estranged son unit to train an extraordinary humanoid fighter in a no-holds barred robot boxing match. The action will be filmed in downtown Detroit, as well as throughout the state. Steve Molen, DreamWorks Studios' president of physical production, said about the shooting location, "The (State Incentive) rebate is certainly a primary factor in the decision, but it was incentive along with the diverse looks in Michigan and the cooperation of the state that make this an ideal package for Real Steel."
With a budget of $80 million, this will be the biggest studio movie to come to Michigan since the launch of tax incentives for the state in 2008. Real Steel is set for a November 18th, 2011 release date.
Real Steel was released October 7th, 2011 and stars Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie, Kevin Durand, Hope Davis, James Rebhorn, Marco Ruggeri. The film is directed by Shawn Levy.

I can tell you the plot now. He trains the robot, the robot becomes self aware, Jackman realizes that it has feelings and before you know it, he and the robot are on the lam. By the end of the story, the robot realizes that that the people who built him will never stop chasing them, and the robot sacrifices itself, and we learn the lesson, that if a robot can sacrifice himself to save a Human life...then perhaps we can too. Roll credits, tears flow. I'll take my million now.

Sounds interesting. I'm sure Jackman sees some potential in it.

I'll hold off judgment until I see a trailer, but the premise sounds totally screwy. In the absence of human boxing, would we really fight robots? The whole appeal of boxing is that you're seeing a real person get the hell beat out of em. There are some things that robots will never be able to do, like boxing... boxing and love.

I haven't been disappointed by Hugh Jackman's work yet, he is one of my favorite actors, so i have no doubt this will be good.
