Director Genndy Tartakovsky also poked some fun at another vampire saga, when discussing Dracula in Hotel Transylvania.
"It's refreshing to go back to the beginning of Dracula - and then have Adam Sandler put his spin on it. There will be no sparkling skin. But there are a lot of jokes."
The story centers on a resort, which is basically a refuge for all these famous monsters, where no human is allowed, until Andy Samberg's Johnny stumbles in by accident, and ends up falling for Dracula's daughter, Mavis.
"The motto of Hotel Transylvania is that it has been human-free since 1898. This is a place that all his friends can come without being persecuted by humans. They are just trying to live their own lives."
The director also encouraged the actors to record their voiceover sessions together, which added a unique element to the production.
"I said we need that chemistry to show these monsters are a family. When those guys were together in a room, it was just an explosion of energy."
Hotel Transylvania was released September 28th, 2012 and stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade. The film is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.
