The following week, the Ausies moved to New York for their USA campaign, which unfortunately was clouded by the untimely death of Heath Ledger. John Travolta gave a moving tribute to Ledger at the Lincoln Centre and stated, "Actors need other actors to be inspired, and he was my actor." In thinking about the doomed star, I am reminded of James Dean, and Rebel without a Cause, which has become classic - .not only because of the film's excellence, but the fact that Dean died soon afterwards. The same power will no doubt be extended to Brokeback Mountain - which will be immortalized for Ledger's legendary performance.

Got to admit that Travolta really gets around. A few nights later, he was among the Living Legends of Aviation lauded at the Beverly Hilton. These honorees include aviation entrepreneurs, record breakers, pilots and astronauts who have made an impact in the aviation industry. We were pleased to see our pal, Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, who just celebrated his 78th birthday in Calgary, participating in the Dual Giant Slalom race course. Talk about getting around!
