History Channel to Tell Manson Story
For the 40th anniversary of the shocking Hollywood murder spree, the network has scheduled the two-hour Manson on Sept. 7. It features an extensive interview with Linda Kasabian, who stood guard while her fellow cult members murdered actress Sharon Tate and others.
The star witness for Manson's prosecution, the reclusive Kasabian hasn't been extensively interviewed since an "A Current Affair" special on the 20th anniversary of the murders in 1989.
The special recounts the nine months leading up to what Manson dubbed Helter Skelter, a two-night murder spree that he and his LSD-addled followers thought would incite a race war.

I think even Vincent Bugliosi is aware that it was more complex. He had to win the case, not a sure thing due to California laws. Manson may have felt slighted when he trespassed on Sharon's lawn in March of 69, but his motive was fame (or infamy.) I am sure he knew what he was doing by sending out his followers to kill an eight month pregnant star of a film that features taboo subjects of the time like abortion (she gets one in the film). He didn't need to do anything else after that. And also, don't discredit that things were not thought out in a neat way like a serial killer would. It was the summer of woodstock, the moon landing, Vietnam was raging. Not that it can all be blamed on "the times..."

sounds good, except Manson never really believed in Helter Skelter, hence why 2 months after the murders just before their arrest for operating an auto theft ring, no other attacks occurred in light of the race war not beginning, and when members asked Charlie why they shouldn't go commit more murders to incite the war, he turned them away and shut them up. he was a failed talent wanting revenge against the system, and an upscale woman who scrounged in disgust at the mere site of him at her door. the upscale woman being Sharon Tate.
