Hillary Duff and Kevin Zegers Are the New Bonnie and Clyde

It seems two of the most infamous bank robbers will get a new take on their story. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hillary Duff and Kevin Zegers are in negotiations for The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, a new retelling of the 1930s bank robbers.

Tonya S. Holly will direct the film and it has been stressed that this is not a remake and that this film will show different parts of the couple's lives that had not been previously seen in films like the 1967 classic, Bonnie and Clyde, which starred Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.

The Story of Bonnie and Clyde will be shot in the South, with filming to take place in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, although a production date has not been announced.

The Story of Bonnie and Clyde comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Thora Birch, Michael Madsen, Cloris Leachman, Taryn Manning, Lee Majors, Matt Dallas, Drew Fuller, Dee Wallace. The film is directed by Tonya S. Holly.

This IS NOT a remake. The '67 film was a watered down, heavily romanticized piece of fluff. The true story is far FAR better. Clyde Barrow was no Robin Hood as some have believed him to be. Bonnie Parker's only real crime was falling madly in love with Clyde. For the last year of her life, Bonnie was crippled from a horribly burnt leg suffered following a car crash in Wellington, Texas. She never walked right again and Clyde even had to carry her in and out of places on most occasions. Bonnie had also become an alcoholic, brought on I'm sure by the stress of the life style at first and later as a means to drown the pain from her leg too. In the end, they were never even given a chance to surrender or even to know what was about to hit them. Clyde never even put the car in park much less got out of the car. A much different scenario than what the '67 film portrayed. If Hillary really wants to prove herself, this will be a good role for her. An actor/actress is only as good as the material they are given to work with. So, I'm all for giving Hillary a chance.

Meh i can think of a better cast it would need a big budget.

I have no idea who Zegers is, Hilary i'm soz i can't take her seriously esecially as an outlaw in love, but she'd look good in the clothing of the 1930s.

But i've been writing my own script on this, and it will be classic if it's made the the actor and actress i've penned for Bonnie and Cyle are still around.

But i reckon this will go straight to DVD or just get a small limited theatrical release, but don't forget this is negotiations on the casting, they ain't confirmed in the roles yet.
This film could get cancelled, i guess only time will tell

I agree COMPLETELY with Kyle_Hannah and Mr. Fixit. I say give her a chance. I haven't seen it personally, but from what I understand, Ms. Duff was EXCELLENT in "War, Inc."

I can think of a better cast, but sh*t, let's give them a chance to make us wrong about it. I could care less about Duff, but I agree with Kyle Hannah with the bad acting comment. She may prove to be a good actress. I won't buy a ticket for this movie unless I see some really good sh*t coming out of it.

Hilary Duff should be nowhere near any film in Hollywood. Also, on a music CD because she's just a terrible entertainer.

I am not going to jump to see this, however, Hillary has to start somewhere if she wants to start doing 'serious' films. That being said, even though it is not a remake of the 1967 classic, you know that their performances will still be compared.

Well give the lady a chance she's finally at a point where Disney isn't milking her for every penny she's worth with $hitty direct to DVD teen movies. I think it'll be interesting to see her range and first attempt at being a serious actress. Look at the sprouse twins they overact on The Suite Life because it's a kid's show and that's what they are supposed to do on a campy tween sitcom. The Sprouse twins though actually can act damn well in a serious film see The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things for proof. that being said i'm none too pleased about a Bonnie and Clyde remake. Zegers is great and i won't condemn Hillary until i have a real performance to judge her by but the project itself seems like a low blow to the classic. The last classic to be remade The Day the Earth Stood Still was a major financial and critical flop i don't doubt this will suffer the same fate.

Wow this is just retarded. I like Zegers, he was excellent in TransAmerica, so I am sure he can pull it off, but Duff? What the hell? This had better get an 'R' rating but I am about 100% sure it'll be PG-13.

If its a remake or not I've already seen it and I like the 67 version and I don't want to see another version and I really dont want to see one with Hillary Duff I dont think she has enough of a serious background to convince me.
