Melissa Rosenberg will write the Highlander reboot for Summit Entertainment
Justin Lin (Fast Five) is still attached to direct Highlander. We first reported on his involvement with Highlander back in September of 2009. Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway worked on the first draft of Highlander. Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley also took a pass at the script.
The franchise first began with the 1986 movie Highlander, which starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. The story centers on Connor McLeod, a Scotish swordsman who discovers he's part of an immortal race of warriors. He must square off against an evil barbarian to determine who is the last survivor.
The original Highlander spawned a number of sequels, the most recent being 2007's Highlander: The Source, along with live-action and animated TV shows.
Highlander comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

I always loved the original film. It was funny, sad and action packed. It had a little something for everyone. The sequels pretty much all sucked altho i have seen them all more than once so what does that tell you about me?
This movie really doesnt need a reboot.

K-Man, I'm against remakes and reboots because Hollywood has offically ran out of ideas. In my opinion, the last original idea that came out of Hollywood was the first Matrix. I know I dont have to go see all the sh*tty remakes that come out of Hollwood, but I can express my 1st Amendment right...so get over it.

The Narrator: The Better Man
She's the wrong person to pen this film. While the writer of the terrible Scooby-Doo films worked okay for the Dawn of the Dead remake, I doubt that's the case here. This stories a lot more character driven then one might think, and this writer has proved a piss poor adapter and writer period.

@K-Man:I totaly agree with you on that Robocop remake.As for this remake.I just wish they had gotten a different script writer.Seriously.I wonder what they were thinking when they hired her to do this.

@Mad_Max - Dude, why are you against remakes? Sometime, not always, we get a really, really good remake out of the mix! There are still stories coming out, not as many as we would all like, but they are still coming.
If you dont want to watch a remake then DONT GO SEE IT. But for some of us, we are hoping that they absolutely nail it with a good, up-to-date version of the film.
However, having said that, I can honestly say that Melissa Rosenberg is not a good choice to accomplish that......at all. In fact, I'd take just about anyone over her. Justin Lin is a terrible choice too.....So basically, the studio went about this particular film ALL WRONG in trying to get this remake done right.
However, films like the Robocop remake were definitely on the RIGHT track when they hired Darren Aronofsky to direct......too bad that one fell through.
