Robert Zemeckis directing Here There Be Monsters for Warner Bros.
Brian Helgeland is writing the screenplay, which centers on Revolutionary War hero John Paul Jones, although gigantic sea monsters are also featured in the story. The project is based on an original ideal by Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.
Jon Jashni will produce along with Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, and Thomas Tull. No production schedule was given for Here There Be Monsters.
Robert Zemeckis has been attached to a number of projects lately, including Replay, Flight, and Major Matt Mason. It isn't clear which project will go before cameras first.

I read a more thorough synopsis yesterday and I've got to say, it would be AWESOME to have Zemeckis direct this!! To have him do a "sea monster" film that is also a period piece......holy sh*t that gets me excited just thinking about it!!!
Glad to have Zemeckis returning to live action. All that motion capture animation stuff, while good, was getting really old.
This is great news!!! I hope he does this before (or immediately after) Flight.
