According to The Hollywood Reporter, it appears that "Henry Thomas has joined the cast of Dear John, a love story Lasse Hallstrom is directing for Screen Gems. Temple Hill is producing."

The film is "based on the Nicholas Sparks novel" and "centers on a soldier on leave (Channing Tatum) who falls for a woman (Amanda Seyfried) but then re-enlists after Sept. 11."

Thomas will play "an older man whom the woman falls for while the soldier is away."

Dear John was released February 5th, 2010 and stars Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried, Richard Jenkins, Henry Thomas, D.J. Cotrona, Cullen Moss, Gavin McCulley, Jose Lucena Jr.. The film is directed by Lasse Hallström.
