2015 is already shaping up to be an epic year at the box office, with Marvel's The Avengers 2 and DC's Justice League tentatively set to arrive that summer. Little has been confirmed for Justice League, which is being written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad). A new report has surfaced today that reveals which superheroes will be present in this massive ensemble, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. Take a look at these new details, which indicate that Henry Cavill and Ryan Reynolds may reprise their roles as the Man of Steel and Green Lantern.

  • "Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.
  • Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn't really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.
  • Wonder Woman: She has only been in man's world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.
  • Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynolds' character from the Green Lantern: movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.
  • Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.
  • Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.
  • Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.
  • There will also be a heavy military presence in the film which in future rewrites could include characters featured in Man of Steel, or even Amanda Waller (Angela Bassett) of which neither are included in the first draft.
  • Alfred Pennyworth is in the film in a minor appearance.
  • Lois Lane is also in the film in a cameo.
  • Darkseid's Elite will be featured who go up against the Justice League early on in the film."


None of this has been confirmed by Warner Bros. at this time. The studio has not found a director yet.

Justice League comes to theaters in 2015.

    I'd rather see a Superman/Batman story arc that introduces Justice League rather then jump right into it...DC already has two of the most iconic heros in modern times and those two alone would be enough to jumpstart a JL movie. Oh well...let the "experts" handle it.

    @rjh094 We allready know all of these heroes. EVERYONE knows all the heroes in the justice league, that's why it doesn't matter. It was different with the avengers, almost noone knew about these new marvel heroes. (Compared to the justice league, the avengers were unknown.)

    Right lineup, for the most part. On one hand, it's odd that Aquaman has a vital role for a cosmic tale, but on the other it makes perfect sense, as Johns has a lot of pull and is currently making Arthur Curry a major force in the DCU.

    While I'm not sure Reynolds was needed (personally, I think Jon Stewart would be a better fit), Cavill is a must. This is not the same situation as the Hulk. Any human can play Banner, because the Hulk is computer generated. However, Superman must be a constant, and not in flux. Two Supermen in two years would be confusing, and potentially disastrous. Let's face it, if they were thinking of replacing Cavill at this point, it would be detrimental to Man Of Steel. Why would anyone care about it if he was just going to be replaced for JLA? It may also mean that the film is in fact a disaster itself, and WB/DC is jumping ship early by announcing a new Superman for the ensemble film. Luckily though, WB/DC is sticking by its guns, if not by name, at least by "essentials." While the studio is not giving Cavill or Man Of Steel the big stamp of approval at this point, they have not backed away from either, which can only be seen as good news.

    It also sounds like the film may be hedging towards using Wally West instead of Barry Allen, which is another move I approve of. GL is not supposed to be comic relief, unless perhaps it is Guy Gardner, but Wally West certainly provides the humor. West is also much more popular with the fans than Allen, and his name recognition will go beyond Allen's, as it is West that was used in the JL cartoons and in the ongoing Young Justice show. Many people that do not read comics yet watch those shows could have a Flash they are familiar with instead of a stranger.

    WW's story sounds ridiculous. Her film should be made before JLA, because what they have planned for her in the JLA film sounds more like a plot for a stand alone origins tale.

    As far as the JLA/ Avengers comparisons, in the words of some famous comedian: "Bitches, please!" That is the most aggravating and nonsensical thing about this. JLA could very well prove to be a great film. It could also end up as the biggest flop of this decade. That is something that cannot be said about Avengers. It's a proven entity, whether some like it or not. Personally, I'm going to root for both films to succeed.

    Sadly I'm far more excited for The Avengers 2 because under the direction of Whedon, Marvel has their act together.

    I feel that Warner Bros doesn't know what to do with with their properties.
