Hellraiser gets new life with Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier
According to Variety, the original Hellraiser from 1987 was based on the Clive Barker novel about a family who moves into a new house and are terrorized by demons known as Cenobites.
Hellraiser's notorious villain Pinhead was played by Doug Bradley, though it hasn't been decided if Doug Bradley would return.
The reboot will be an origins story.
Production is expected to get under way next year for a late 2011 or early 2012 release.
Hellraiser comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Patrick Lussier.

if in fact this is genuine i say let rob zombie helm the wheel with his twisted views on the afterlife and so on im sure he would create a true hellish world pin head and many more cinobytes it would be fantastic truly gruesome what more could you ask.

@doubler0522 Using Dimension films with "won't f*ck it up" in the same sentence is an oxymoron. They are still around to piss off people and that is the only reason.

I really liked the first film but the ones that followed seemed to get worse as they went.

I shall defend myself, by saying I saw them well after they came out, and I was a teeny tiny thing...

They didn't scare me, but I did like them. Rarely do I like horror, so that's a big thing for me to say that.

LOL The originals scared you?I first watched this when I was like ten and kept on watching it.

This isn't too bad an idea. The originals scared the crap out of me. Be interesting to see this particular franchise resurrected.

I LOVE Hellraiser and I wouldn't mind seeing a remake. I like them up to 4, granted, for was odd and it was in space but there was a reason they were space it just wasn't random, it supported the story.

This is epic news. If anyone could director the Hellraiser remake I would want it to be Lussier. But people do expect this movie to be released in 3D. Two of Lussier's movies(My Bloody Valentine and Drive Angry) are both in 3D and it is also widely known that Lussier and Farmer wrote a script for a Halloween 3D for the same company who is making the Hellraiser remake.

An origins story on this sounds pretty good to me. I know they dipped in and out of the origins throughout the series, but it was total $hit... do it and do it f'ing awesome. First time I hear PG-13 or 3D related to this, I'm gonna f'ing scream my head off.
