Helen Mirren will star in Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho
We reported in January that actor Anthony Hopkins will portray Alfred Hitchcock in this dramatic comedy, which is adapted from Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book of the same name. Helen Mirren will play the director's wife, Alma Reville, in thus project that focuses on Alfred Hitchcock's quest to make his 1960 horror classic Psycho, which no studio wanted a part of at the time. The adaptation focuses on how Alfred Hitchcock secured financing himself, as well as the filmmaker's relationship with his wife.
Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! the Story of Anvil) is directing Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho from a screenplay by John J. McLaughlin (Black Swan) and author Stephen Rebello. An April production start date is being eyed by the studio.
Hitchcock comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, James D'Arcy, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg. The film is directed by Sacha Gervasi.

I laughed when I read that no studio wanted Psycho. Clearly, Hitchc*ck's horrible track record led them to that action. I mean, after such duds as Rear Window, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Rebecca, Spellbound, Notorious, Susp*cion, Strangers On A Train, Shadow Of A Doubt, Rope, and To Catch A Thief, why would the studios ever give him another chance. The studios were definitely wise to turn Hitchc*ck down :P
