Both Helen Mirren and Pete Postlethwaite have joined the cast of Rowan Joffe's upcoming drama Brighton Rock. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be an adaptation of Graham Greene's 1939 novel of the same name.

Sam Riley has already signed on as main character Pinkie, and Andrea Riseborough will play the waitress out to blackmail him over a gangland revenge killing. Mirren and Postlethwaite will play married couple Ida and Phil Cokery, who work together in exposing Pinkie's past exploits.

Brighton Rock is set to start shooting on October 18th in both Brighton and London.

Brighton Rock was released August 26th, 2011 and stars Sam Riley, Andrea Riseborough, Helen Mirren, John Hurt, Philip Davis, Nonso Anozie, Craig Parkinson, Andy Serkis. The film is directed by Rowan Joffe.
