Hayden Christensen and Djimon Hounsou Taste Mandrake
Based on an original script by Kevin Bernhardt, the film was scripted by Josh Oppenheimer, Thomas Dean Donnelly, JV Hart and Ian Jeffers.
The film centers on Jackson Mandrake, who lives life on the edge. Working as an underground magician and escapologist, his act has grown increasingly dangerous. Following a daring escape from an SUV that has been dropped out of an aeroplane at the Burning Man Festival, he is coerced by the CIA into breaking a deep-cover agent named Xi Shing Lung out of a maximum security jail. Hypnosis, contortion, distraction and technical wizardry all come into play as Mandrake breaks the agent out from the inside within a 24-hour deadline.
But back on the outside, Mandrake learns that it was all a set-up. Xi is a CIA agent gone bad. He offers Mandrake the chance to join his crime ring. When Mandrake refuses, he's a marked man. He must escape his would-be-killers and also the real CIA who accuse him of being in league with Xi. His quest to clear his name leads him into all sorts of dangers, which he must overcome with daredevil escapes that require all his conjuring skills. And along the way, Mandrake is forced to confront his past and the girl he left behind.
No production date has been set.
Mandrake was released in 2009.

this will suck donkey balls.
I liked the when this project was closer to the 'original' concept with Rhys Meyers(TUDORS) as the lead.

I often read MANDRAKE as a kid, but I think Mimi Leder is a horrible director which is why this film doesn't sound promising to me.

Ok it doesn't sound like they are keeping to the original source, which is 'Mandrake The Magician.'
But this does definately sound interesting for a reintrepretation.
If your wondering then this is technically a film adaptation of the first superhero ever, named Mandrake The Magician, he came 3 yrs before Superman
I hope this matches up to the potential of The Prestige, it has the ability to as well.
I Triple on that Black Panther scenario.
Have any of you 2 read 'Storm,' i think its an origin story for her, where she falls in love and gets married to Black Panther.

I can understand why they give us so much information, for people like me who have no clue as to what the comic strip is about. I for one apprecaite it.

Movieweb needs no stop spoiling so much with their articles. You could have ended this after the first paragraph and it would have been enough info. Not that I really give two sh*ts about this. The only comic adaptation I want to see Djimon Hounsou in is a Black Panther movie. But just for future reference, whoever is putting these articles together, stop blowing it so hard.
