Has Angelina Jolie Pulled Out of Wanted 2?

Vulture is reporting that Angelina Jolie is pulling out of Timur Bekmambetov's Wanted 2 at Universal.

Apparently, the studio has pulled the plug rather than recast the film.

It looks like the actress would rather star in Warner Bros.' Gravity from Children of Men's Alfonso Cuarón. It is based on a script he wrote with his 28-year-old son, Jonás.

The project had been set up at Universal, with Jolie in the starring role, but then Gravity was put in turnaround.

In the film, Jolie would be playing "the sole surviving human member of a space mission, desperately trying to return home to Earth and her daughter." Warners picked it up and it is going to be produced by David Heyman (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and Legendary Pictures.

Wanted 2 is in development and stars James McAvoy.

Dude, the entirety of my comment was pure sarcasm. Do you think I honestly need tips on writing or consult a monkey before submitting work? No. I was just playing around. I don't know how often you frequent this site, but a majority of my comments are not meant to be taken seriously. Believe me, I'm in no means offended.

Although, I do resent be called a "bitch" and a "princess." A bitch, I can perfectly understand, but princess...I hardly fit the profile. The milk was a nice treat, though. Thanks (Again, sarcasm. They sell it in value packs). ;P

Obviously, I'm not hear to make freakin BFF's, but I'd rather not have enemies, so let's call a truce. Someday when we're old and grey and resemble chewed pieces of gum, we'll be sitting back like a a pair of old timers on a porch swing. Swapping stories over a pack of Pabst, I'm sure we'll look back on this occurrence and laugh our baggy asses off. Okay, definitely not. But you get the idea. ;)

    Later brah,
    Princess

For someone that calls himself Zany, you take things far too seriously. That was all tongue-in-cheek. Dude, don't take anything I say personally, because it's not worth it to you. When I come here, I want to read opinions and ideas about movies. I don't give a damn about personal attacks, but when someone makes them on me(you said I was full of sh*t first, pal), I'm going to respond. It's only natural. But for you to go off like that- damn, sorry I touched a nerve. Tell you what, why don't you have a nice warm glass of milk, and get a good night's sleep so you're not such a bitch in the morning. Sweet dreams, Princess.

Wow. I propose a perfectly logical and coherent argument and the only element that you regard is one minute, mistake (yes, I meant dispensable. Sue me. They say typing tired is equivalent to typing smashed. It's a legit statistic. I swear). I could easily stoop to your patronizing level and dish out gibes about your writing style, word choice, and the occasional grammatical error, but what's the point.

Next time, I post a comment, taking account my "aphasia," will you proofread it for me? Pull out your little red pen and annotate my mistakes? Hints? Tips? I'm such an incompetent, feebleminded writer, I require rapt attention. Please, professor, help me cope with my functionally illiteracy. When I type, I'm all thumbs! ;P

Don't worry, you can skip this comment. I double checked every, single word with a dictionary, a thesaurus, and a blind, deaf, dropout monkey from the Ivy League. We're good.

By the way, if you're so full of sh*t, take some ex-lax. It should clean out your system (and possibly your skewered sense of egotism).

    Have a nice night.

    ;P

I may be full of sh*t, but at least I know the correct words to use. Indispensable means necessary. Go back to school and learn a few things before you criticize someone else. By the way, they don't need to even use the Joker again, because there is a great pool of villains to choose from. In other words, Joker, no matter who plays him, is not requisite(I know, it's a big word, but it means the same thing as indispensable. Let me know if you need any help understanding grammar).

I meant in regard to story, the writers have an easy-out. Her character died!!! Therefore, a replacement is unneeded. That's the definition of an "easy-out." The Dumbledore incident is completely different and incomparable. They HAD to displace him because his character is pivotal to the plot and the core to the series. Sure, the old bag behind the beard croaked, but the heart and soul of the wizard still sang loudly. He was essential to the story's success.

Whereas with Wanted, Jolie's character can be scrapped entirely. She's indispensable because -why do I feel the need to repeat myself - she. is. f*cking. dead.

Furthermore, take for example, The Dark Knight. You might not be aware, but this guy named Heath Ledger - yeah, he's kind of big deal - also died, leaving an empty face behind the Joker's makeup. Would you call that an easy out? Absolutely not.

I have done a few basic calculations and determined that you're full of sh*t.

Zany,if you're talking about the original Dumbledore, the writers had an easy out there, as well. You do know that Sir Richard Harris died after Chamber of Secrets, don't you? As for Wanted, I agree with you that the franchise could move on without her, but to get another woman to play that type of role, and do it as well would be difficult to find. Angelina's acting ability and athleticism are a rare find that's tough to duplicate. Like I said, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, and I'll add Kristin Kreuk, formerly of Smallville, because she can act and has tremendous athleticism, but the fact that she's not a major film star might hurt her(Chun-Li may have irreparably damaged that possibility-but she can act circles around fluff like Alba and Fox).

Zany, you said it for me perfectly in your second post... and Messenger... I actually WOULD pull out of Angie. Sorry. She ain't all that anymore.

However, I look forward to Gravity. Children of Men was a real guilty pleasure of mine. Strangely reminds me of Moon... what is Duncan Jones up to these days?

When you say "replace Angelina Jolie," I'm assuming you're referring to a hot-female-crowd-pleaser-type role and not her specific character. Obviously, switching actors has worked in the past, but a switch-out for Jolie would be ludicrous, not to mention completely superfluous. Unlike with say, The Dark Knight (Rachel) or Harry Potter (Dumbledore), the writers have an easy out: her f*cking head exploded. She's dead. Kaputt. Bye-Bye. If they think Jolie was the backbone to the first film, they are sorely mistaken. Yes, her presence was a treat. However, the action, dialogue, and James McAvoy were the movie's true crutch. I say scrap Jolie, rather than scrap a promising franchise, and overall BA film.

It's easy to replace Angelina Jolie in a romantic-comedy, because there are many actresses that can fill that role. On the other hand, replacing her in an action role is damn near impossible. There are not many women in Hollywood that can give that physical a performance and make it look real. Halle Berry can't- she too fragile. Remember when she broke her wrist during the making of Gothika? Yeah, she's not it. Jessica Biel could do it, Jennifer Garner can do it, and that's all that comes to mind. I'm not adding Megan Fox or Jessica Alba because, although they can do what's physically necessary for the role, they have yet to prove they can really act.

Spynet315, at first I thought it was predictable from seeing the trailer. After seeing the film, it was like all those teen comedies where the protagonist is a loser but then rises to power, except this had quick laughs and intense sequences.

They say the book is always better than the movie but I hated the book. The film's dialogue is better than the book, not to mention the book is racist and points out a lot of stereotypes and is completely sexist. Some of it was just sh*t that Eminem would say in 8 Mile and it also includes a damn artist rendering. It tried to be urban and give Wesley a "thug" look...

Angelina Jolie, I don't care how skinny she is, is too damn fine. Like Username mentioned, they would being playing with the healing bath but it wouldn't make sense since she is dead. A lot of the characters deserved more screen time but each fit well. Would the sequel follow Weapons of Fate?

A bullet imploded her brain. She's dead. We all shed a few tears. Now, move on with production. Besides she wasn't really the "asset" of the film's success, she was just the "ass." There's plenty of that in Hollywood. Shop around and make the damn movie. End of discussion.

WTF!? She died in the first one why do we have to have her in the second one i dont get this sh*t.well anyway the first wasnt that good so yea but still this is bullsh*t,if there were fans of this flim i am sure they are outraged right now.

Did anyone else think that the first Wanted sucked? Predictable story, lame action, this sequel should not be made. Not to mention the fact that Angelina Jolie is not hot... at all.

It's better if she ain't in it. I like Jolie, but bring her character back to life it's just dumb. There are lot of other amazing actors/actresses who could join the sequel.

To answer the question of her return, I think they were playing around with the idea of those "healing baths" that were in the first one...but a bullet went through her brain, so she might need to stay in it a while longer lol

F*ck Angelina Jolie. Her anorexic ass died in the first one so we don't need her for Wanted 2. As long as James McAvoy is down to return then that's all we need. He's the main character anyways so just focus on him & forget about bringing Fox back.
