Harvey Keitel Joins Life on Mars

Harvey Keitel has signed on for his first-ever regular TV series role, joining the cast of ABC's upcoming Life on Mars adaptation, based on the U.K. version of the same name.

According to Variety, Keitel will play Det. Gene Hunt, who heads up the homicide department and is known for using any means necessary to do his job.

Life on Mars, which has been completely revamped from its earlier pilot, will feature Keitel starring alongside Jason O'Mara (who plays lead character Det. Sam Tyler), as well as Michael Imperioli (Det. Ray Caling) and Jonathan Murphy (Det. Chris Skelton).

Life on Mars revolves around O'Mara's character, a contemporary cop who wakes up in the 1970s after a car crash.

The show is set to start shooting in New York on Aug. 5.

national treasure aside, harvey has a long list of great feats as an actor.

for example: mean streets, bad lieutenant, reservoir dogs and even the piano (thats right, i said it) to name a few.

and even if the national treasures werent great harvey still delivered, as he always does.

I haven't seen Keitel in anything lately. Other than national Treasure(both of which were sh*t)

gotta love a sci-fi type twist to an otherwise ordinary style drama.
