Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Sets Box-Office Record

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince earned a record-breaking $104 million worldwide during its first day in theaters on Wednesday, making it the second-biggest Wednesday opening domestically, according to Reuters.

The film grossed $58.18 million in North America and $45.85 million overseas in just its first day in theaters.

Quite simply, we owe this record-breaking opening to the remarkable fans who have stood by us and who stood in line to be among the first to see 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,'" Warner Bros President and Chief Operating Officer Alan Horn said in a statement.

The first five films in the franchise, one of the most lucrative in Hollywood history, have so far taken in about $4.5 billion collectively at the global box office.

It was fine daydream. It's like a movie that simply bridges Order of the Phoenix to the last films (Deathly Hallows); which will be f*cking awesome or people will burn theaters to the ground lol jk.

I like the HP movies, but not enough to read the books. I'm assuming it's the same with CB

Wow, so it looks like we're going to have four sh*tty movies in the top four spots for highest domestic gross of 2009, Harry Potter, Transformers 2, Up, and Star Trek.

up at 80 million in 2 days, should make an easy $75 million these three days

Cb, It's obvious that you are a Rotten tomatoes follower, why else would you use a sh*tty movie like Transformers 2 just to prove your case. Just because you don't read the books still doesn't mean your not a die hard fan. You are a die hard fan of this sh*tty franchise because you love all the movies.

Chad, I'm not upset. I'm just flabbergasted that this little CB bitch, who i wasn't talking to to begin with, this dick licker brought me up first, says that he's not a big Potter fan. Obviously he is, he probably thinks it's the best franchise there ever was. He probably thinks it's the Star Wars of this generation.

Yeah I don't have enough interest to read the books either lol.

These 4 main fight scenes in Transformers 2 is what I liked the most. The forest one (was the best), the quick last one with Prime vs Megatron and The Fallen (was 2nd best), BumbleBee vs Ravage (panther like transformer), and when BumbleeBee and Prime save Sam from Megatron and Starscream and that little Doctor decepticon when Prime blasts Starscream in the face with his hand gun lol.

Newkill, shut up. Just because I like the movies doesn't mean I have to be a die-hard fan. In fact, if I was a die-hard fan, I would read the books, but I don't. So don't f*ckin tell me what I'm a fan of.
And, since I actually somewhat liked Transformers 2 a little bit, that automatically tells you that I don't base everything on Rotten Tomatoes.

PS: Everybody... I only liked Transformers 2 up until the forest battle, which was amazing by the way. After that, it sucked. And Jetfire is pretty awesome, too.

Newkill, calm down, you have no right to snap at people, seriously. I like how people say Sly's name and Newkill gets mad? They aren't talking to you duder. I don't know why you are so upset over HP lol. People like Harry Potter even if you don't. Majority of people on here like it (and in general in the rest of the world).

Half Blood was good, not awesome. Order was better I thought. Actually, Prisoner is probably my favorite out of all of them; gotta love Gary Oldman lol.

First of all CB, dickf*ck, i wasn't talking to you. And it's sad to see that you make your movie decisions on rotten tomatoes and it's box office. And don't lie to yourself, just admit that your a fan of Harry Potter okay, you just said you like all the films a lot.

  16. CB Junior

I'm not a die-hard fan of the franchise, but I still like all of the Potter films a lot. And I'm probably seeing this weeknd or next. And sly said that everyone said it sucks. Well, a movie that has high box-office numbers like this and an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes doesn't suck. That's like saying Star Trek or Dark Knight sucks. And Newkill, don't tell me to leave sly alone because his comment doesn't make any sence.

That's cool. Better than the sh*tfest that was Transformers 2. Still not better than The Dark Knight, although still worth checking out.

  18. Newkill3000

First of all Comrade, leave Sly alone, you basterd. Second of all Harry Potter did not have a better opening than Dark Knight. Dark Knight didn't even open up on a f*cking Wednesday because they didn't need an extra day to bring in money. It opened on Friday. So, your the jackass.

Wait, you're mad because it had a better opening day than The Dark Knight, aren't you!? Oh my f*cking god, just because something makes more money doesn't make it better. Don't worry, you can continue to be justified living in the past.

Slysnide, 6 years down the road: "Yeah, Avengers 2 was okay, but it's no "The Dark Knight"." (Although by then it will probably be Batman Three, and you'll lap it up even if it flops.)
