Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Pushed Back to Next Summer!

Sorry, Harry Potter fans, but it looks like you'll have to wait even longer for the next film installment of this series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has pushed back the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from November 21 of this year to July 17, 2009.

Warner president Alan Horn said in his statement that the writers strike was the main cause for the release date shift.

"Like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films-changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of," he said. "We agreed the best strategy was to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer."

According to the studio, the post-production work for the film, directed by David Yates, is being completed on time and also that the studio still plans to split the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, into two films.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was released July 15th, 2009 and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Dave Legeno, Elarica Gallacher, Jim Broadbent, Geraldine Somerville, Bonnie Wright, Julie Walters. The film is directed by David Yates.

Ok...normally I don't really comment due to the fact that I barely have time to but I'm going to say this. It's a darn movie. So what it's going to be pushed back? I know that it sucks for the diehard HP fans but you know what? They and everyone else will get over it just as ppl get over chicken pox.

***I am not a super Harry Potter fan or anything, but my friend is like obsessed. And she was so excited when she found out it was coming out on her birthday. SHe wanted to take a couple friends to the premiere for her birthday. And now she is really pissed off because it is coming out in July.

Personally, I think that this bullsh*t. The only true reason they are postponing it is so that they can make more money. HELLO- they were gonna make a fortune anyway! I am not sure that this "silver lining" really is silver. I would have been fine waiting two years for the next installment because I would have been satisfied with watching the sixth movie in November.

I have also read somewhere that one of the actors said the they had finished it and it looked amazing. Question- If it is finished Mr. Alan Horn, than why don't you release the sixth movie when it is supposed to come out and get off your high horse and get to work on the seventh movie. That way everyone will be happy and maybe, just maybe , the seventh movie could come out like at least two months early. Because all you have done, by moving the release date, is create a small army of angry fans ready to boycott Warner Brothers movie until the sixth movie is released.

*** That was a copy of the letter I sent Mr. Horn

I believe that we should all boycott Warner Brothers movies until the sixth movie comes out.
We should also not go on the first day.
I think that this will show Mr. Horn that he has truly disapointed thousands of fans around the world.

I've heard that WB changed the date mostly due to Radcliffe starring at the same time in the controversial play on Broadway, Equus, where he appears nude. WB publicity would not be able to utilize Radcliffe to the extent that they would like due to his Broadway schedule, not to mention they don't want any articles / interviews to be mixed with editorial about his naked role on Broadway. Potter & nakediness in the same article wouldn't be too kosher for the WB.

Insult to the fans? Suing the watchmen movie and making wolverine lighter is an insult to the fans. Pushing a movie back and keeping it the same isn't an insult, at best it's a good strategy

What sucks about this is that "Entertainment Weekly" Magazine: #1007/1008 * Aug22/29, 2008 has "ON THE SET: HARRY POTTER...the article states:

"The Sixth Harry Potter film arrives this fall, rocked by teen angst, the death if a main character, and a major qustion: Now that books are completed, will audiences still be as wild about Harry?"

WOW.....Now the film has been pushed till next summer! I guess "Entertainment Weekly" was in the dark as the rest of the world! Hollywood is ruled by the devil!

    THIS FALL 2008..MY ASS!!

The only reason..."THE ONLY REASON" Harry Potter got moves was because of "Twilight"...if you go into "Border Books and Music"..they have all kinds of "Twilight" crap..everything from "Twilight" candy bars, t-shirts etc..etc...IT's the next teenage blitz!

I tried to read the 1st book "Twilight". I mabey got through the 1st 2 chapters, & thought it was really boring. It was really written for teenagers/young adults Under 21!

The movie itself looks like soemthing that could play on the Lifetime channel!

My sis told me she's reading twilight. Lol. Probably have to watch that with her.
If I were u Potter fans, I would be more worried about the deathly hollows in 2 parts than a postpone of HBP. I mean what if they delay both of those (probably won't) but if they did, It would really suck then. lol.

Alright, I'm already sick of hearing about The Dark Knight. YES! It was a great movie! Yes it kicked major ass! However! IT'S OVER, AND EVERYONE'S SEEN IT! GET OVER IT ALREADY!

AND JR, I wouldn't expect the people going to see such a high action movie as TDK would much want to see a Vampire Romance movie, so that's that, and alls well.

no offense vamp but if you were at the midnight show for tdk everybody was making fun of it and saying how cheesy acting and bad effects. and trust me it was eveyone and it was like 300 pepole and they thought disater movie looked better..lol its true i rather see disater then twighlight.
